I am also interested in other's opinion on the sonic characteristics of the different algorithms. I listen to A, and on the 270 transport, there is a separate enhanced resolution mode which I usually leave off. I am not sure if the enhanced resolution setting is on the 861. The enhanced resolution is sometimes useful for recordings that sound distant since it seems to augment the upper frequencies. Otherwise, it seems that it distorts the frequency response and alters the soundstage not always in a good way. It is really subtle, though.
