Vandersteen Quatro Wood II?

Does anyone know when the change from Quatro Wood to Quatro Wood II occurred, month/year or serial number they started, or any more info on differences?

I see mention of Quatro Wood II, even though there was no formal name change to the Quatro Wood until the CT version. I believe the mk II references a change in the mid driver (4.5”?)  going from a poly smooth cone to the tri-fiber woven cone of the 5A.

I searched a bit and not found anything yet. Below is all I’ve found from Richard’s site:

Paul(3/3/15): Hello Richard, In your reply to Mike on 3/1/2015, you stated "THE TREO FEATURES THE SAME THREE UPPER DRIVERS AND CROSSOVER COMPONENTS AS THE ORIGINAL QUATRO WOOD" Are you referring to the original Wood Quatro, or the Wood Quatro II? I've also heard the term "Wood Quatro Signature" used before. Is this the same speaker as the Wood Quatro II? Also, what are the differences between the Wood Quatro models prior to the CT version? Thanks, Paul

HELLO PAUL, THE ORIGINAL QUATRO WOOD HAD THE MODEL 5 (FILLED POLY SMOOTH CONE) MID AS DID THE TREO. BOTH SPEAKERS WERE UPGRADED WITH THE 5A MIDRANGE (TRI-FIBER WOVEN CONE) WITHOUT ANY DESIGNATION CHANGE. NOW WE HAVE BOTH THE QUATRO CT AND BOTH VERSIONS OF THE TREO. THE QUATRO CT AND TREO CT (CARBON FIBER TWEETER) HAVE THE SAME DRIVERS AND CROSSOVERS FROM THE 6.5-INCH MID-BASS DRIVER AND ABOVE.

I would suggest contacting Mr. V directly. He will return your call personally and can give you the most accurate response.

Though I am a Vandy fanboy, I don't understand why Vandersteen doesn't keep records of their upgrades connected to serial number connected to date. Computers can make this a simple project now.

Give them some time folks.  I think we MAY see that change over time. Richard just isn't big on making name changes.  He will often just make mid run changes to a part of the speaker that makes it sound incrementally better, etc... and not make it a mk2 like others do.

Personally, I think the word wood should be taken out since it can be painted like mine can.  So can the Treo's.  All I know is they sound so awesome and have that warm midrange.
