Type 80 Tubes

I have a DeHaviland pre-amp that I don't want to part with.  It has become difficult to source decent Type 80 Tubes.  I have purchased a couple singles on ebay and etsy but more than half are terrible, noisy, microphonic.

So does anyone know of a reliable source, or is there a tube substitution I can make by modifiying the circuit.

thanks for constructive suggestions, no I don't want to buy a new preamp.

Here ya go!

A 280 type tube is a replacement for a 80 type tube!

The 280 is a classic full‑wave rectifier tube from the early vacuum tube era, known for its reliability and efficiency in powering early electronic equipment. If you’re restoring vintage gear, it’s a common replacement for other 80‑series rectifiers like the 80 or 180.

Just get an adapter and use a 5y3, it is electrically equivalent to the 80, just uses a different base.
