I use cable elevators to keep my links off the ground about 8 inches and haven't noticed a problem. I'll try disconecting them though.
Tip for Levinson owners
Try removing the communication links (with rj 45 connectors) between components. Those telephone like cables do introduce noise (esp on CDP). Before removing make sure all your components are powered off.
You loose out on convenience but get handsom gains in performance (no high freq grain whatsoever). Let me know of your findings.
