Speakers For Restored Scott Integrated Amp

I am looking for suggestions for speakers to pair with a restored Scott Stereomaster 233 Integrated Amp. The amp puts out about 25 wpc. I've tried using it with original Snell Type J's, but they are too power hungry.
Minor detail... I'd like to keep the speakers under $1500. Thanks!

Love the vintage amp!

Those speakers look pretty efficient to me (92dB sensitivity)... are they in a big room?
I don't know whether you're interested in diy or kit speakers, but the SEAS A26 is a modernised version the Dynaco A25 from a similar era. I've built some and they are fantastic value for money.

I've mentioned SEAS twice during my limited time on this site so I should point out that I have nothing to do with the company, I'm just a fan.
The speakers are in a basement that is quite large and open. Probably 30 x 15.  I tried the Snell speakers with the Scott...I had to crank about 3/4 up on volume for them to sound decent. Funny you mention Dynaco A-25's....my first speakers ...got them in 1970 or so. I'd love to try them (or a facsimile) with the Scott, but I'm not sure I have the DYI skills to implement..
I used a pair of Vandersteen 1c's with a Scott 222C for many years. My basement listening area was 23 x 14 x 7. The Scott had no trouble driiving the Vandersteen's to decent volumes. You might want to check with Johnny Rutan at Audio Connection for some additional recommendations. Good Luck!
