Sony SCD-XA5400ES

Is the XA5400ES truly balanced (like the Oppo BDP-105), or are the XLR connectors simply a convenience?

I have done a search on this, but I cannot find a definitive answer.

Please help.

This makes the signal, ground, and power supply wiring ideal. Right and left circuits including balanced circuits are laid out quite symmetrically, playing a roll in generation of a clear stereo image."
