Perreaux SM6P

Anybody had problems with the SM6P preamp?
I bought one here and the display was faulty on arrival with missing pixels. Then it when blank and the preamp no longer works at all.
Any suggestions?

Some dipstick had fooled with the old chip trying to get the display to work and had cooked the chip. Apparently the pins had great blobs of solder all over them! Everything now working like new.
