Old Audioquest cables

Anyone holding on to their old Audioquest cables? My twenty-year-old silver-surfaced copper AQ Lapis RCA interconnects are still working brilliantly. There is indeed something to be said here of high quality that seems to last forever.

I didn't think so, but a quick look in the closet showed I still have an old pair of Midnight 3 speaker cables.
I haven't used them in many years, but I'll bet they still work fine.

I started to work in audio in 1998.I remember those cables very well. I owned the Diamond+ loudspeakercable at that time. This was the topmodel they had at that time.

To be honest we live in another world now regarding audio and cables. The latest cables of Audioquest are superior in timing and accuracy. The airtubes of the new Audioquest interconnects give a much sharper individual focus of instruments and voices.

I would not even want them for free in my set!

LOL!! Bo knows BS!

Don't fret Jon, Bo is famous around these boards.
Read some of his soap box preaching, he is quite the comedian!!
No one thinks more highly of Bo than Bo!
The Lapis X3 with unbalanced connectors appear to be much more reasonably priced.

Of course since there are so many fakes out there, AND Bo says they are garbage anyway, why even bother?? ;^)
No, fakes are sold at low prices, that is what drives the market. People want a $5000 cable for only $1000, and there are folks out there who can make that happen.

Bo is right, they do rip of every manufacturer. However, I don't see fake dealers as any more evil than the manufacturers/dealers who are looking to rip you off as well. The whole cable industry is about ripping people off, whether you buy legitimately, or fakes. YMMV.
Czarivey, they are not fake dealers, they are Satans, and Bo HATES them!!
Basically because they are competition, and Bo does not seem to like competition.

I am only interested in the best, when something would be inferior I could never sell it.

Spoken like a true dealer.

I always find it amusing when a dealer changes lines how the former product he carried is no longer a "good value". It doesn't seem to matter for what reason the dealer dropped the line, or even if the manufacturer dropped the dealer. Now the dealer will poor mouth the former line and rave on about the new line.

It's really quite comical.

To be fair, you're statement only allows for the possibility of deceit. Is it not possible that the newer cables may be better?

Absolutely, anything is possible. I'm sure that many times a dealer does like a certain line better. I'm not just speaking about cables though. Also, from my experiences I would believe this to be a minority occurance (< 50%). More times than not, the dealer has decided to switch brands due to being dropped as a dealer, or dropping it themselves due to sales volume, profit margin, etc.

However, almost 100% of the time, the dealer will tell you they changed ONLY because of sonic attributes, though a few will say because of reliability problems. No dealer will tell you that THEY were dropped from the brand, or that they switched for a larger sales margin. ;^)
Well I suppose that you hold dealers in a higher regard than I do Zd542. Sure, there may be a dealer who just loves what he's doing (like looking for a hooker with a heart of gold I suppose),but from my personal experiences, it's all about the Benjamins.

I do not hold audio dealers in any loftier standards than any other salesman, car sales, boat sales, jewelery sales, ski sales, etc. Yes, they all have their brands, but for the most part, they are looking for the brand that best feeds their personal lifestyle. Nothing wrong with that, I think most folks look to maximize their income, whether they are in sales, or any other field.

Even if you find a audio dealer who is not in it for the money, but truly just sells what they think is best, what they think sounds good may not correlate with what I think sounds good.

I do agree that the most important thing is to be an informed consumer. Don't let ANYBODY tell you what sounds best to you, be it dealer, manufacturer, reviewer, etc.
The proof is in the listening.
Sigh....I better put my taller boots on, the bullshit is getting really deep in here.
Bo1972, why don't you close all of your posts with the "Dealer Disclaimer" warning that all dealers are suppose to post on these forums, to alert innocent readers of your commercial bias?
