The Marantz units have gotten very favorable reviews, especially at their price point. In your chain of products, the preamp/receiver is the among the first that will be obsolete due to the change of pace in tech. It really all depends on what you want to accomplish.

Trying to get a good Networking Preamplifier 5 channel unit with out rebuying the same technology ALL OVER AGAIN BEFORE it has completely (CYCLED YET) arrived yet!
