New Lampizator Level 4/ Version 4 DAC in the house

Wonder if any other new owners of this DAC are out there as I find it to be the finest digital playback I have heard to date. This is the first digital front end piece of gear I have owned that has transformed my music.

Ya, other digital gear does this or that better, but this Lampy breaks through to a new level of musical enjoyment. Clear view into the music helping the speakers just disappear. Only 24 hours of break in and the music flows so sweet, intimate and seemingly without boundaries.

Looking under the hood I see an impressive power supply with films caps and several high quality chokes. Point to point silver wired except for the digital and USB boards. This is a three tube player that is tube rectified. One has the option for SS rectification if desired.

Ya, I love this Lampy!

3713,

It was a joke about being lost without the Sistrum. You can set it on anything you want. Do you have a Lamp?

Yes, always.

What is your approach to power supply and how important it is in your opinion?

Power supply is everything. Remove the power supply importance and my DAC is like any other 200 dollar DAC from China. Power supply to the tube anodes, tube heaters, and 9 other digital supply points, sets the LampizatOr DAC aside form the crowd and makes it sound as heavenly as it does.
Calling an ugly girl beautiful and a hot chick OK. The Lamp is far from what the King man had heard but then again some men love women with huge big butts where as I throw up.

Had L3/4 and L5 and tube rolling is not hard. All different tubes had their sonic signature coming through the Lamp. Have the Tele EF 800 and the Amperex EF 80. Want a richer warmer fuller midrange sound? What tube do I install. Want a fast linear open sound? Wonder which tube will give me that? Even the Rectifier tube make a difference while running the Bendix tubes vs. the stock Soviet junk.

The Lamp will let you hear the power cable you hook up to it. Likes silver done right.

If you don't set the the Lamp on Sistrum stands then all is lost. One would have missed the mark and would have to go to jail and listen to the PW the rest of one's life.

Yes it is a trouble maker for wire to go lose and a Vodka bottle or two inside the power supply causing it to foward and lean and harsh.

Man King Manr you let a good one go down the drain. What tubes was it running? Get it from Ming to demo?

The Lamp is a music machine built like a SET. If you want intense resolution and detail look elsewhere.
Ring,

I sent you a link on tubes. Did you get it?

I am aggressive with the Bendix tube. I like a good fight in my tubes and not some wimpy sounding Soviet junk tube.

It's not aggressive at all but does sound more linear and open. I tend to like it very much over the 6x5 tubes I have. Cost $75.00 and worth it.

Now the Bendix 6900/5687/7119/E182CC Triple Mica tubes
is a great tube the L has not even heard in his dacs. I have and it is a great tube to install for up tempo music. Only problem is L goes from one tube to the next in his dacs as the tube for the day.

Tomorrow the 40 tube will be history.
"I don't know Glorys DAC but if it is not modified it might suffer b/c a Bendix 5852 draws 1.2 amps as opposed to .6amps of a normal 6x5"

No suffering here!!
Have a '09 MM with LPS.

Have a '12 MM with a Larry Moore go through.

The '12 is much better and I don't have the LPS on it yet. Want the Black Lightning on it but a lot more $!$.
Jim,

You should have one tube the power supply. I posted a # here on where to buy tubes. The Bendix is King!!
Jim,

L5 Dac on Sp-1

There is enough bottom end of the unit left for a point to rest upon after the cut out for the tubes on the bottom .

Coat,

Had both. LT had that tube sound to it. Did 88 and that was it.

New MM setup by Larry Moore is a different animal than the LT. Let's say I am not running after another LT.
Fred,

Never do the B with my LT. Should have but was told by M/L it would do no good. What do they know? If L can do a LT to do DSD/hiRez I would buy one. 88 just will not work for me.

Is the Big 6 still BIG or is it shrinking? Have you tried all the different 6SN7 tubes?
Have a friend with CS and his '09 MM with LPS and MM is as good as the CS.
3,

". It's only slight draw back is the way it forces all music to feel too relaxed which could be a drawback for the rockers and head bangers."

That's why one should never have the 40 tube. Limited! A tube such as the EF 80/800 you can do the Amperex or Tele. You get both worlds . The 182 tube is the same. You want more more energy? Bendix 6900.

I feel sorry for all the 40 tubers that got hood winked by L.

3 you don't have the 40 do you?
Srg,

The Lamp Dac is not about big bass little bass textured bass and so on. In the L5 the bass is where and what it should be. These machines are about music connection. A live realist and convincing sound that will keep you involved with the music you play.

Very nice system you have. If bass is a concern I would dump the cables you have and look for a huge upgrade in cables that would effect the bass.

Stage 3 is one of the very best AC cables and Thales IC is one of the best I've had in my system. Aaudio Imports sells both. Call Brian for a demo and report back.
3,

You are stuck with a 40 tube! There is no replacement drop in Tube for the 40 . Have L send you a replacement tube socket for 182.

Old man Glory? Glory wisdom Gearhead.
What does Gearhead know he is not a Lamp owner?

Get the L5 with D caps. Wait for DSD Gen. 4 as it takes L 4 Gen to perfect his work. When perfected his work is hard to beat by even the high $$$ builders.

Get the 182 tube.
"Are you Lampizator owners truly getting sound to rival your best players and even vinyl?"

M2,

Yes. Your Dac is not a Lamp so I am sure you would find a whole new world in the L4/5 as I know I did. 2x DSD is a real pleasure to listen to.

What TT do you have?
I have both MM '09 with LPS and new MM stock. The new MM to me is bettered so I think. Had the LT and it was great on RB but did not meet my needs for all material. Gave it away for $1.3K.

We all hear/see/feel and think different so a shoot maybe useless.

Had the L3/4/5 and the 5 is better than the 4 but by how much? Could I pick out the 4 from the 5 in my system? What if the 4 had a Stage 3 AC cable on it and the 5 had a cheap A$$ ,name your own maker, AC cable like most have will the 4 sound better? 5 has a bigger fuller sound but the 4 is better than most high $$$ dacs being sold today .

The game gets to complex to hear a 3% improvement that just might be a different sound than an improvement.

This hobby is like a man getting most all the chicks he can want. In the end he doesn't want to live with them long term so he unloads and reloads.

The L5 has bigger breasts but they hang and sag where the L4 has smaller athletic breasts made for road running. What level do you want??

I could modify either...."

Doc,

Now that is funny!!
I am sure the 40 is a good sounding tube but it's no 6900! With the 182/EF 800 you can do left/right brain with the Tele/Amperex tubes.
ALL felt it OUTCLASSED the EMM LABS.

What else would you expect from the Lamp? Was it the EMM rip $25K Dac ?
Gearhead

"If you do blinded A+B testing of non-audiophiles (or audiophiles) in a "revealing" system, the results will be a mosh pit of confusion. Sorry folks, placebo effect here."

Geardad with his blind listening stuff LoL The only way to listen to gear.
Gearhead ticking some folks off is he?
Sharp pen and no L4 OR L5 nor L7 does it every time.
What if L had to buy a bunch/bulk of big boxes for his new amps he now is making/selling and has a stool load in his backyard he needs to unload? Honk Honk!!

I would rather see the newer big box than the Cheeze Wiz containers the Lamp was laid in. :) ( better smile for you? )

Still think the Lamp dacs are special beings and need a lot of Praise for their ability to draw one into the music.

Carry on.
I heard a L5 once and thought it was very natural sounding.

How does the L7 sound different than a L5?
JWM,

Love your setup with the Rock speakers in the large living room.

You found a great Dac in the Lamp to go along with you system.
