NEW Cerious Technologies Upgrade - Graphene Matrix Cables

CT Graphene Matrix Cables:

I have been using the CT GE cables for almost two years.
I recently traded up for a full loom of CT Graphene Matrix cables, including speaker, interconnect and PCs, and I wanted to share my experience. I started by replacing only the ICs to try and hear the differences.

The new Matrix interconnects sounded better than the GE immediately after install. I found the original Graphene Extreme ICs to be good but not on the same level as the outstanding GE speaker cables. As break-in started to clear things up, I can hear more clarity and detail not heard before. The ICs are incredible on their own and at the 30 hour mark, I can hear a clear superiority over the GE ICs. I recently started using the Teo Game Changer ICs and preferred them over GE but the Teo has now fallen to the new Graphene Matrix ICs. My Teo’s were and are great, and it is stunning to experience Cerious Technologies commitment to making great technology better.

On the third day of listening to the GM ICs. I couldn’t wait anymore, Having too much fun. I then installed the speaker cables and power cords once I had a pretty good feel for the sound of the GM ICs.

With the full loom of GM cables running in they are going through some strange changes and definitely need time to settle down before realizing what they can really do and very important Bob says to not move them. Since I have a home office I can let them run in all day. I’m at around 120 hours now and they are still improving. Here’s what I’m hearing:

Extended highs and tighter lows.
More detail and better low level listening
Drums are tighter, more clearly defined. So real is the snap of the snare drum. The bass has more depth, seemingly goes deeper, lower. This aspect stands out the most.

I am not in the industry, I’m not an engineer, I don’t work for Cerious Technologies, but I am a fan of the cables and am enjoying what my system is capable of.

I’m closer to my own pinnacle of sound reproduction than ever before.

@charliee

you should contact Bob. Email is the best way to get him. There was a trial period a few years back when I got my cables. He has some new products coming.

@lprules1963,

Check Bobs post from last night on the other thread. He will take your GE Cable and send you the new more expensive Cable. This is a huge giveaway that will certainly earn this customers loyality.

@ozzy ,

thank you for your observations. I agree with you. You’re much better at putting what you hear in words.

The speaker cables weigh 25 lbs. They are very impressive sonically and physically.

Lance
@t_ramey , I did ask Bob just that. He said full burn-in would be around 200 hrs. It’s worth the wait.
@t_ramey , The Teos are slightly warm and smooth. The GMs are dynamic and more transparent at least to my ears.
@muzikmann, I only have experience with the Teo GCs and I don’t think there too many Matrix cables out there quite yet but give it a little time.
@lak , I have the PCs but I after listening to the interconnects Carefully, I then put the PCs and SCs in at the same time so its now difficult for me to tell which is doing what.

i have more cables coming for a second system I have, so I will install the PCs first this time and give some time to break-in. I will report my findings.

i think Bob hit a grand slam this time.
@aniwolfe , There is a bit of price difference. The Graphene Matrix cables are in response to customer demand for a "cost no object" cable, I’m sure Bob will correct me if I’m wrong. This is a different market. The GE cables are giant killers at their price point. I'm very happy with the quality vs. cost with these GM cables so far.
My listening session tonight is astounding. I marveled at the improved bass with the GE SCs but these Matrix cables have me in subterranean territory. I have always been wanting in the bass department with my Janszen zA2.1 speakers but this is sooooo satisfying now. One of my subs is out for repairs so theyre both off and I feel like I really don't need them anymore.
@cycles2 ,

I gave the interconnects 3 days before putting in the the SCs and PCs. I can report that there was a significant jump in quality using just the ICs and they weren’t even close to being burned in.

once I introduced the other cables into the system there was no way to tell which Cable was doing more. I have another loom of cables coming for a second system. I will try to be a little more scientific this time and eliminate the variables.

@powerglide,

you articulate what I’m hearing so well. The details are retained even more clearly. I suppose we could call it the CT house sound but on another level. Everything sounds so realistic as if the band were in front of me. The bass is so impressive and still sounds like it’s an octave lower. I’m at about 150 hrs and still hearing improvement.
I haven’t tried them all but the Matrix interconnects are flat out the best I’ve ever had in my system.

im getting in some serious burn in time and it is well worth the wait. My system has never sounded this good. Revealing details in such a natural way.

If you think these sound when you get them just wait until 150 hrs. Oh boy.
@t_ramey ,

”There's a whole level of realism that is reached while still remaining natural that just makes for an awesome experience”

well said. I have about 200 hours on the full loom. The difference between the GE and this new Matrix line of cables is not small. Usually the rule of diminishing returns sets in eventually but Bobs breaking all of the rules here.

Lance
The Matrix cables for my second system will arrive next week. I will try to concentrate on the speaker cables this time. When the first loom came in I was careful to listen to the IC’s first to get a good feel of their sound. The IC’s are a big step up in sound quality as compared to the GE.
@mac48025,  I think both cables make a big impact vs already very good GE ICs and PCs. If I had to choose I would start with the ICs but that’s knowing I would get them all eventually.

Today I just inserted the new Matrix cables into my second system with my Double Impacts. Wow! The DI’s reveal the cable changes in a big way. These cables are soooo freakin good!

Lance
The power cables are excellent, besting all PCs I’ve tried to date including: Lessloss Signature, Sablon Grand Corona, Sablon Petite, Mad Scientist Audio, etc. I can’t even remember all of the cables I’ve tried.
@powerglide, I have not had exposure to any of the Shunyata line of cables but I can confirm that the Matrix PC bests the GE by a good margin if that helps any.
It’s a pretty good bet that Bob is spending time with his family like the rest of us during the holidays. You have nothing to worry about and when you get your cables you will realize the wait was well worth it.
@in_shore , The new Matrix power cords are not all that flexible. The Graphene Extreme PC’s are just slightly more flexible but nothing like a wet noodle.
@in_shore , The changes just might be worth it because these cables are very good. Also, the IC’s and SC’s are game changing.

if you haven’t heard a Berning amp since the Seigfried then you must hear the latest Berning designs from Linear Tube Audio. The change is radical from earlier designs..

Lance
@in_shore , The CT GE Red worked well for those low current duties. I have all Matrix now in all positions with excellent results. I’m guessing there will be good deals on a lot of GE since many are trading in cables.

Lance
@jmcgrogan2 , I had the Morrow $3995 Grand Elite Reference speaker cables at one point. I replaced them with the CT Graphene Extreme and the GE beat out the Morrow in every way, so much more natural and impactful bass. The Graphene Matrix has now bested the GE by a good bit. It's almost hard to believe it could get any better.
@littlecx , yes, the ICs were the first cables I tried and it amazed me how much better they are than the GE. Also why I’ve been selling off my Teo Game Changers.
I have my SCs on the carpet as well. Maybe Bob will chime in as to whether it makes a difference.
@lak , I have plenty of scrap wood for some blocks. Probably a good idea and will cost me nothing.
@toetapaudio,  I have the Sablon Grand Corona and Petite Corona. I prefer the Matrix over those on all components.
@toetapaudio, @yoby summed it up well. I would add the Matrix is a little more natural sounding. I only have the older versions of the Sablon cables for comparison though.
@meambler , I have 2 sets left of Teo GCs. One 1.5M and one .5M

Im using nothing but Matrix from here on out.

Lance
@jay23 , I enjoyed correspondence with Bob a few days ago. He doesn’t monitor this forum everyday and I know he’s very busy but I’m sure he will get back to you.
@boukman ,

im not sure if you saw Bobs post From a few days ago:

”I am now staring at a Matrix power cord wrapped neatly around a 4" in diameter (2" radius) cylinder. This is very flexible. I think the problem is that customers need the cables to kink almost immediately as it comes out of the connector because equipment is pushed so close to the wall. With over 40 years experience and setting up around 500 systems in my life I can tell you that you do want your equipment or cables pushed right up against a wall. Walls have all sorts of crap running through them - AC, digital cable, and other things that wreak havoc on audio systems. Pull your rack out 6" and all these problems go away. It will also help with the nightmare of hooking up new equipment.
The nature of the Matrix conductors and damping jackets is outlined on our website. "Metallurgy" does not apply, as they are a sophisticated composite.Thanks everybody!
Bob”

personally, I think the Matrix have close to as much flexibility as the GE.
@calloway , I haven’t moved my cables in a while and I see I stand corrected
@gwng8 , sometimes they are slow responding yet they always do. This is a small company dealing with huge demand. They are very busy and believe me its worth the wait.
@genjamon , I have not heard the GC II but compared to the GC the Matrix is more natural, effortless, dynamic and real sounding. I’m not saying the GC isn’t good because it’s very good but the Matrix is spectacular.
And don’t forget the interconnects. The Matrix is a huge step up. Much better than the Teo I had.
Yes, lets hear from some newbies. I'm quiet because i'm completely satisfied with the sound of my system. I will never say never anymore but right now I no longer feel a need to try out new cables.
@thezaks , I do prefer the CT Matrix over the Teo Game Changers but I have no experience with anything else in the Teo product line. I am very satisfied with the Matrix cables so my Cable journey may be over.
Dave,

let us know how that Audioquest Cable holds up against the Matrix. I haven’t had an AQ Cable in my system in years. I would bet the farm it won’t beat the Matrix.
Russ,

These are some comments from Bob:

”I wanted to let you know that they have a very sophisticated reactive jacket which takes a while to calm down and lock in. This along with break in will result in the first week being wildly varying with regard to sound. Just do not move them around and they will jump leaps virtually every night. After a couple of days "Massed vocals" will start to come to clear and distinct individual voices and layers of detail will become scary”

They will continue to break in for a period of 200 hours, of course maybe thats because I kept moving things.

Lance
The Matrix just continue to amaze me. I have lost all interest in wanting to know what other cables sound like.
Good to hear from you Bob. I glad things are getting back to “normal” for you. Please stay safe. You are needed in this industry.
@tubes444

I have stopped searching for cables. I’m very satisfied with the quality of the Matrix line of cables. I have been concentrating on other areas of my system as a result. The Matrix IC’s had a big impact in my setup but you better ask Bob about the length. I dont own a Pass Labs amp but I bet you will be amazed.

Lance
I went from Morrows to the GE and then the Matrix. No going back. It just sounds too good.
@gochurchgo, I owned several different levels of Morrow cables including the flag ship Elite Reference Interconnects and speaker cables. The Graphene Extreme Cables are better and the Matrix even more so. I sold all of my Morrow cables.
