Looking for a full function Preamplifier

Hello,

I am in the market for a new preamplifier to replace my aging (and heavily modified) Audio Research SP-14. The main reason being that as I have moved up in analogue the SP-14 can no longer support the low output cartridge I have purchased (Sussurro 0.4 mV). The Audio research SP-20 is my current interest, but I'm certainly open to other suggestions that would match its features ... especially in the phono stage gain area (58 dB or more).

Thank you.

You should consider a Luxman Cl-38uC. It can accomodate MM, as well as high and low output MC cartridges. I have heard a SP-20, but preferred the Luxman.

Thank you both for your replies.
As for using a step-up transformer, I'm looking into the phono preamp made specifically for the low output SoundSmith cartridges, the MCP-2.  The dealer that sold me the unit Sussurro will let me borrow one to see how it works in my system; it has 63 dB of gain and from what I've read uses step-up transformers in its input.  I'll add the results as soon as I try it out.
