Just an observation here, but????????

Is it me or has anyone else noticed the change in turntables designs from with sub chassis to without? Is there any manufacturing or acoustical reasoning behind this?

From what I have read and experienced, mass loaded The  is better than spring loaded TTs. Someone correct me if I'm off base.
blueranger, you touched on an area of controversy.  There are two camps, high mass and low mass.  Linnies inhabit the latter.  Low mass usually goes with spring or other suspensions.  High mass usually goes with no suspension. "Better" is whatever choice you prefer.
I have a high mass diy teres and it benefited greatly from some isolation footers. You need some sort of acoustic decoupling
Yeah, but there are a lot of turntables that are low mass and without suspensions.  Some companies, like Rega, believe this is the way to go for sonic reasons and others just do it because it costs less and involves less setup problems.  Every camp has its followers.
