Hello, I need help find a overhang gauge for a yamaha turntable.

Hello, I need help finding an overhang gauge for a yamaha turntable. says it should be set for 16mm. I don’t know if I need a specific gauge made for my turntable, or if there is some universal gauge. Thanks any help.

Its specific to your turntable, but its universal in the sense it applies to all turntables with a similar arm, if that makes any sense. The hardest part with turntables is figuring out what goes with which. Once you do that the adjustments are pretty much all the same. You can figure it out here, and once you know which one download and print and get it done.https://www.vinylengine.com/cartridge-alignment-protractors.shtml
Thanks for the answer, I don't need an alignment protractor, I have the baerwald protractor and can align the cartridge, but I addition I need to make sure that the stylus overhangs 16mm beyond the spindle. I need to know the best and easiest way to insure this. I think an overhang gauge is what I would need. I don't know which kind to order or how to find it.
If you have a protractor with inner and outer alignment guides, and IF your cartridge cantilever is aligned at both points, then your overhang is correct. if not, then slide your cartridge forward or back until it is aligned at both points without readjustment. Otherwise you can just use a mm ruler and measure from the tonearm pivot to the TT spindle, and then from the pivot to the stylus, and subtract. Start by doing this anyway, but the test is to be aligned at both points. Sometimes the tonearm is not actually installed precisely.
