Conrad Johnson PV 15 or 17LS?

Can anyone tell me how these two preamps compare? The 17LS has been discontinued for a few years, but originally sold for somewhat more than the present PV 15 (approx $4495 vs $3000). Is that meaningful? Is the 17LS considered a generally better preamp than the PV 15?

Can't speak to the current PV-15 but I did own a 17lsI and liked it very much; upgraded to a 16lsII (much better and still own). The 17 was a member of cj's premier line which was constructed utilizing better parts than than their PV line. If it were me I would buy the 17 over the PV-15 or better yet the 17 series II or 16 series II. Good Luck
