You might try and look at what the folks at Hyperion are doing. They are introducing a new preamp and amp for less than 4k and I heard it at the Show. Their speaker has received great reviews and I liked what I heard. Put a TRL mod with a Sony 595 with this system and you will never look back. You can also go with a modded player from APL or Modwright or even RAM but it will cost more $$.
Best value digital source at HE2005?
Looking to upgrade things on the Redbook side of my system, but can't afford a zillion dollar cd player and if I could I'd have a hard time buying something that is worth 1/2 what it cost when you take delivery and 1/2 of that a year later.
