80's Rauna Ymer Tower Speakers Advise on Swapping Low Wattage Speakers with Some Kicks!

I picked up 2 of these speakers 2 years ago and they are in pretty good shape. The original Rauna are setup for a hi wattage amp. It actually sounds good on my 70's Sony 150 watt per channel amp. But I been wanting to set it up to match my low power tube amp 65 watts per channel Yaqin MC-100B. Total is 4-KT-88 on both channel. I prefer the linear mode. But occasionally I switch to the soft mode. I listen to a lot of old pops. Well just call it like this Phil Collins Seriously Live in Berlin.
. Any speaker recommendation is great. Thanks... Joe

So you feel the Rauna speakers don't match up well with the Yaquin tube amp? Won't play loud enough? Bass too loose? The Yaquin likely has an output impedance of several ohms. Therefore will act as a tone control as it tracks the typical varying impedance (resistance) of most speakers (few have a flat impedance).
Try a pair of Klipsch Heresy's. They will play ear-bleeding LOUD with your tube amp!

Hi there,

and thank you for the kind response. I know those klipsch setups are nice are very nice. I made a mistake on the posting. I want to keep the Rauna and change the whole driver package including the crossovers to match my amp. Its basically 2- 6" and 1 horn per tower. I want it to sound a bit modern on the highs only.

As presently the Yaqin is been driving these sets of Marantz imperial 7. It is really matched to the amp even at low power setting. I changed the tweeters to a ribbon and the mids. This setup is been like this for about 5 years now. I really like it. But I have been ambitioning on the Rauna for a very long time. I actually have a sound lab 80's down-fire sub with a separate amp driver to run with these. Actually I don't need these subs on the imperial 7. But on the Rauna I think I will. Probably very minimal.

A saner choice would be a pair of Tekton DI's. There are some now on this site (listed for $2K) from seller "funlvr1965". Pickup only from Madison, WI.

Hi

Follow-up:

These new speaker driver that I install in the old Rauna is the best setup I had! It sounds like glass with thundering bass. I’m very happy and its worth the wait throughout the journey. My Yaqin is very happy too! Thanks.

Oops sorry for the late response. I changed the whole package. The whole speaker driver and cross overs. I end-up getting a Paper woofer and the ribbon tweeters. The speaker body itself produces a midrangey tone and I set the speakers like 11 inch away from the wall. Its stunning the way how the speaker process its sound and its really bassey’ due to the back porting which is what I prefer on speakers. 62 tube watts per channel is not really a lot of power respectively these yaqins are probably 40 watts in the ultralinear mode so its perfect for the size of my music room. I actually just finished recapping my amp with all pio choke caps and larger quality solens. The sound is slightly smoother after this work. The only thing I haven’t done is the remote volume.

I wanna put a picture here of the speaker and the modified amp but I don't know how..
