Best way to send digital to DAC
Another route would be an Ethernet renderer from Sonore. I use their microRendu in DLNA output mode with either BubbleUPnP or mconnect for control (both support Qobuz and Tidal). Simple. There are other output options as well (RoonReady, HQPlayer ...
Is it just me or has Quboz crashed?
FYI .. the Qobuz outage was reportedly due to a DOS attack. Apparently wreaked havoc across their service. All seems well now.

I also signed up (Sublime tier) on the 14th. My focus is mainly jazz and so far I'm happy with their catalog, which sounds wonderful. Reports I've read online mention 170,000 hi-res albums.
Do I have to use a streamer/renderer to play music from an NAS?
As I recently went down this road I'll share a bit of how I approached it. First, I use a mesh wifi system which made this possible without re-wiring my house. Second, before going all-in and buying something from Synology or QNAP, I set up an old...
A comparison between two DACs, one R-2R, the other ES 9038-based.
So @zimmerma .. assuming (perhaps wrongly) you'll be ridding yourself of a DAC, have you decided which one? Pontus? Sonica? Just curious is all.
Can we start a thread for folks who run a SET amp with a subwoofer or two?
I lived with my Omega Super 3i Monitors for about a year before adding a DeepHemp 8 Subwoofer. As much as I enjoyed the Super 3i's sans sub, I really missed what good bass brings to the mix. The sub is wired to my 2 wpc Decware SE84UFO via speaker...

These are the 4 DACs I've held on to:- MHDT Lab Pagoda (PCM1704)- dB Audio Labs Tranquility (TDA1543)- Chord Qute EX (FPGA bespoke design)- Schiit Bifrost Multibit (AD5547CRUZ)The Bifrost started its life as standard ds (AK4490) and was upgraded t...

@zimmerma .. I’ve not heard your DACs in particular but I can hear distinct differences between the 4 I have, which includes both R2R multibit and delta/sigma types. (There is a small part of me that wishes I didn’t hear said differences to be hon...
Network player/streamer to feed NAD M51 DAC

GO PATS!
Low-scoring defensive games are never very exciting but a tense nerve-wracking affair (for fans anyway). Both defensive teams were outstanding but the Pats were brilliant. Nice article on ESPN:http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/25921740/super-bowl...
GO PATS!
Rooting for the Patriots is like hoping the casino wins all the money. It’s easy to hate the Patriots for many but I’m originally from Massachusetts and a long time Pats fan who remembers the frustrating history (decades actually). The Belichick/B...
High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it.
Now, you may not like hearing what your music sounds like, you may want distortion or coloration, in that case I would look at tube DACs or some poor measuring DACs from Audio-GD or similar.  But if you want to hear the music as recorded, the DAC3...
High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it.
The vast majority of my music is 16/44.1 and my focus has always been to get the most out of the format. The first DAC which proved to me 16/44.1 was "good enough" was the dB Audio Labs Tranquility. According to many the DAC, with it's cheap TDA15...
High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it.
I don't know if there is an affordable 24bit R2R DAC yet.Affordable is of course different for everyone but my MHDT Lab Pagoda (PCM1704) sells for about $1300 and does 24/192 natively. Sounds wonderful.
Is there an rca input selector box audio only 2ch in 1 out?
The Schiit SYS will still work, just turn it all the way up (check their FAQ). As it's a passive device there are no electronics in there to muck up the signal. Cheap and versatile little device which IIRC got plenty of nice reviews from 'philes. ...
