Pass XP-22 vs Simaudio 740P
FWIW I have decided to upgrade from my XP12 to a XP 22.I did actually listen to some of the Simaudio stuff. I did not get to hear the 740P, I was interested in the 390 as the thought of doing some simplification was tempting.Sonically the XP22 was...
Warm, rich but detailed SS preamp (made you give up tubes)
Moon is more neutral than Pass.  I've owned both.  No doubt.  BAT - good option.

What answer are you looking for?  You have basically asked the same question in about 3-4 posts.Ultimately, it's not that big of a deal.  But, it reminds me of the person who has a small knee problem, and keeps going to surgeons asking the same qu...
Pass XP30 preamp makes no difference (from dagogo) ? Wow! (active vs passive vs no preamp)
@douglas_schroeder Yes.  That’s why I was using one of each as far as DACs go.  But, I certainly appreciate I’m not the smartest audiophile in the room.Just reporting what my ears heard.  Recognizing that I’m just a humble audio nerd.  Not a “prof...
Pass XP30 preamp makes no difference (from dagogo) ? Wow! (active vs passive vs no preamp)
Did a lot of experimentation the other day with a couple DAC's and my XP12 and a loaner XP22.Ultimately, the XP22 plus DAC was the best combo 85%+ of the time.  I posted here a few days back.  But, if you can afford a XP22 or XP32... it will out p...
Pass XP22 demo vs my XP12
Oh, I played around with all of that also.Dac Direct (either) - Depending on the track it could be a toss-up vs the XP-12. On clean, smoother tracks I prefered DAC direct. On bad recordings (of which there are so many...) the XP12 I preferred, par...
Pass XP22 demo vs my XP12
Oppo Sonica and the RME ADI FS2.The pre-amps made a much bigger difference in sonics than both DAC's.  I heard a slight difference in the DAC's, but not anything I would rave about one over the other on SQ.
Is it possible one channel of my DAC is clipping?
I will check that.  I believe Roon is doing all of my processing/upsampling.  But will go through that Menu here tonight or tomorrow.  I believe the OPPO just puts out what it gets.
Review on the Rockna Audio Wavelight Pre/DAC just went up on Stereo Times
Good reviews and press on this DAC.  I'm not a complete numbers stickler, but has it been measured anywhere?  I am looking for a new DAC that can serve as a pre-amp for a HT loop.  Only use 2 sources now.  Simply wondering if anyone has measured t...
Pass Labs Power amps choices
WCSS is having fun, but anyone that bases their purchases on his fun might as well just randomly pick an amp.I won't get into much other than with zero consistency in anything, it's pretty hard to formulate opinions. As for the Pass gear, he's actu...
JBL 4367 shoutiness remedies?
You own one of the smoother horn speakers out there.   You have a 10 band EQ.  You have good electronics. You many simply not like horns. You can piss away money on a power conditioner, but that isn't going to do anything. You can do SOME room treatm...
M900U vs the world
It’s all about system synergy.Garbage in - Garbage out, and of course what are you looking for in an amp based on your speakers...It’s a good amp, looks great. But at that price point... lots of good amps. If resale is important to you, avoid all ...
Ohm Super Sound Cylinder SSC-4900 initial thoughts kinda review
@tlm5857, curious as to you changing your handle here from craigsub? M700s and 4900s.  I’ve been researching ohms for a while now. Figured that has to be you.Just wondering.I recently demoed the Ohms here at another members house. The 5000s. I was...
Best realistic omni type speaker option?
Ohm's will certainly give you a bigger sweet spot and a pretty full range sound even in the smaller models.
AudioTroy - NYC audioshow, will you have a room?
Ah, that is too bad.  I know you guys have a strong belief in your ability to system match, and "outperform" others in that regard, to really dial in a system.  Would have been an opportunity to prove it with others.  Oh well.
