Stylus-Drag..Fact or Fiction?
I have not run from lions but I can hear pitch variations like no tomorrow.   It is the variation that is the problem.   Weather the pitch is correct to a tuning fork or not is not that important.   But the band needs to tune to themselves.  Kind ...
SUT's -Looking for one with some meat on the bones
Was just a thread on SUT's.  Loading and matching where somewhat discussed.  Also a link which is very informative.  That being said get a Denon 103 not the 103 r.  It is cheap and is very full bodied.  Talk to Dave at intact audio.  He can wind a...
Advice on SUT for Koetsu Rosewood - EAR MC-4, Slagle/EMIA, other
Montaldo it is great to hear your happy.  Dave knows his stuff and can obviously hear music.  He can do all the math and graphs, but when he is done he listens.Part of the sound difference is in the materials and the build.  Loading and step up ar...

Dave I am confused on the second variable.  Or what you can do to the transformer to make the cartridge  not need loading.Let's say you have 5 ohm cart.  We use the 10x rule so 50 ohms is a ballpark load.  We have no input resistor on the phono am...

Mike the the formation so far has been confusing at best.  You might be best served talking again to Dave at intact and call Kevin at K+K audio.  The ratio of the step up is squared then divided into the 47,000 resistor.  So 10 to 1 is 10x10=100 t...
Why do YOU love Vinyl/or hate vinyl
Warm  Euphoric Quality  =  Real Musical Sound.  Buying into the numbers is fun for the math guys but does not explain the difference in sound. Enjoy the rideTom

Can you build any electronics yourself?  A SUT is probably the easiest thing to do.  Then you could try alot of different sut's on the cheap.  Lundal and cinemags also have multiple windings for various ratios.  They all sound different so you can...

Talk to Dave.  I have his lcr and Avc stuff.  You are a tube guy and obviously  know what real music sounds like.   Have him build it you can swap  out load resistors.   Then you can find tune any carts you have or will get in the future. Also the ...
Micro Seiki MA-505LS tone arm, anybody familiar?
You might try a brass plate on the top of head shell, with the denon.  Had a regular 505 for over 20 years.  2 of the best mods where brass counter weight and bypass the detachable head shell connections.  More of a pita to swap head shells.Enjoy ...

Why According to some Turntable extremists Pitch Control and Direct Drive is Sacrilege?
You hit the Nail on the head!!!  Heavy platters for belt drives is the way to go.  The difference in sound is huge.  I feel need to build a heavier platter.  Have one at 33 and another at 40 lbs.  Most of the lead is in the outer radius so that he...
Why According to some Turntable extremists Pitch Control and Direct Drive is Sacrilege?
I think the OP maybe needs to define and understand the question he just asked.  Are we talking about speed adjustment with a external knob.  Electronic automatic adjustment somewhat continuous.  Are we looking for the right 33.333333333 or that 3...
