Science that explains why we hear differences in cables?
“You don’t need to invoke waveguide EM which is basically only used in radar and microwave frequency…”Why not apply it to audio cable design, if it produces desirable results…? Apparently it has, at least for some.
Science that explains why we hear differences in cables?
My purpose in starting this thread was not to say that Jeff Smith has everything totally correct, or that his cables (or anyone else’s) are the be all and end all. It was to point out that there is valid science which allows for, and can explain, ...
Science that explains why we hear differences in cables?
“Fwiw, Rick Schultz of High Fidelity Cables also uses this approach in his products”I’m not positive, but I think Teo Audio and Townshend Audio also use a similar model in designing cables. The point being, there are those who say that “science” sh...
Science that explains why we hear differences in cables?
If repeated observation shows something that your scientific model doesn’t explain, or even allow, doesn’t it make sense to consider the model, and maybe look into an alternative one, rather than stubbornly cling to it and deny the observation?

mijostyn,I have found that when someone starts refuting something with a statement like “it is all hogwash”, what follows is highly unlikely to be a clear, reasoned, understandable and persuasive explanation of why they disagree.

Can anyone give me an idea of how much, and what kind of, improvement you get going from a blue fuse to a yellow one? I'm contemplating another QSA purchase, and trying to decide between a yellow fuse upgrade from blue in one of my components (pro...
Tiny bridges everywhere, but why?
My listening room is carpeted, so I was able to cut and notch some pieces of cardboard to test the idea of cable lifters. Sure enough, they made a nice improvement, and I ended up getting a set of Audiquest Fog Lifters, which work great for me.htt...
Telling musicians to evaluate and choose their instruments in a “scientific” way?
For those who don’t get what this is about, I’m trying to point out how ridiculous the things some people keep saying about how we should evaluate our equipment are, when applied to the music we love, and the instruments it is played on/through.No...
Telling musicians to evaluate and choose their instruments in a “scientific” way?
“It's the actual musician that makes an instrument sing, not how exclusive the instrument is. A better sounding instrument will however, inspire the musician to play better.A good player with a cheap guitar vs a hack with a very nice guitar will ...
Telling musicians to evaluate and choose their instruments in a “scientific” way?
Making great musical instruments involves all kinds of “art”, all kinds of things things that can only be measured by (experienced) ears. The same goes for making great music. Making great “instruments” to reproduce this music in our homes is tota...

“…it is very easy to fall for this. I think most of us have at one time or another. Many here obviously still do. You can not evaluate sound quality this way as your own internal biases can affect the outcome even when you are sure they can’t. In ...
How important is the pre-amp?
In my single source CD based system, the DIY HiFi Supply Django Mini TVC, with Silk transformers, works great, for what I consider a very reasonable price.https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/diy-hifi-django-mini-tvc-preIn my system, I consider ...

millercarbon,I believe you put the QSA stones on the output transformers of your amp? If so, did you leave them there? I’m considering getting another set of all three, and that’s where I’m thinking of putting them.

t_ramey,Can you elaborate on the improvements you heard going from the Light Blue to Yellow in your DAC?
