Inherited a pair of JBL 4350 -- Need Advice
Send them to me. I'll take care of them.
Background noise.
Boxcarman: Absolutely brilliant. It's nice to know vaudeville is still alive!
Suggest one obsure album we all should hear

are we also coffee connoisseurs? Or wine enthusiasts?
Grislybutter: You are thinking of the Croatian wine master Mike Grgich. He did a huge amount of work (uncredited) putting California wines where they are today. Croatian reds, b.t.w., can be astonishingly good.
WILL IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
My wife, a professional orchestra and chamber music player and singer much prefers tubes. Me too!
What speakers have you mistakenly let go and then later repurchased?
JBL 4311.  C.S.I., the soffit or bridge mounts with 2 6" woofers
1st full tube amp Oldchen EL34
I'm on my second Chinese amp. The first, Music Angle 6n1p, class A, sounded good. It was even better after a capacitor & pre-amp tube replacement (7199 for whatever came with it). An unqualified American tech killed it. The second is a Sophia ...
Direct Drive

When a budget speaker is preferred to a high end one...
Does anyone out there listen to the Sophia speakers? I have a remarkably good-sounding pair of unlabeled speakers purchased in China when living there. They look suspiciously like the Sophia product.
Have you ever solved a high end audio issue using non-audio technology? Or, visa versa?
Tissue to tame excessively spitty tweeters. First recognized as a "Yamaha NSM 10" mod.
Isn't it really about quality of recording?
A friend and fellow recording engineer once said "Digital lets you hear the engineering mistakes much better than analog". I've heard magnificent Hot 7 remasters and crappy new work on several what to me are pretty good systems. Always remember:...
Sophia Electric is not honest
The decorative metal plate came off my early Sophia EL 34 A/B amplifier. The excellent tech at Pro-Tech Services, Bob, recommended I not put it back on, even with Gorilla glue. If the conductive decoration has slipped even a little lots of pins w...
