What percentage of audiophiles use a sub ?
Marty,I completely missed your posts on 8-03. Don't know how but again, I agree with you there. Just because MA specs these 6.5" drivers to 43Hz doesn't mean a thing. BTW, very insightful posts too. Thanks
DEXA D-Clock or Neutron Star?
Guess not. Well I'm doing it anyway. Follow on question here. Is there a benefit to reclocking the transport too? Since the signal winds up getting reclocked at the dacanyway, does it make a difference?

What voodoo? Everyone offered very valid points whether agreed to or not. Your speakers may not be up to the task to reproduce everything in the manner intended so if you really lack bass at all then go ahead and add a sub. I couldn't care less. I...
What's your favorite lyric from a song?
"Oh I would kill for the Atlantic but I am paid to make girls panic while I sing." - Artist - Brand New from the album Deja Entendu. Song - I Will Play My Game Beneath the Spin Light.

Inpieces is correct. Especially if you are willing to drop $8k on a pair of speakers you should factor in some for correcting your rooms acoustical problems. I think you'll benefit either way whether you go with the 200 or 300. 300 will really onl...

Well I can't imagine they are spectacular. But I can see the benefits. And if you like them then you like them. They certainly will cater to the computer and near-field listener and since they are active there are many less components to clutter y...

Help with Cables "which ones best for my set-up?"
Another suggestion is to view the virtual systems for sonus faber and mcintosh and see what those folks are running in their rigs. Personally, I like Cardas. Speaker cable that is. Not a fan of their interconnects.

Marty,I absolutely agree. Numbers only get you so far. It's a good approach but then you have to get subjective at some point.

Just wondering if you've even asked yourself what kind of sound you are looking for. McIntosh equipment obviously has a particular sound but how do you want to augment it? And along with Tvad, just search this thread until you can't read anymore. ...
What percentage of audiophiles use a sub ?
I think the biggest points brought up are probably the exact reasons why I couldn't stand a sub. Placement, cost/quality relative to main speakers, and active sub vs. speaker level and different amps running different speakers. Not least is the ca...

I think their entire line is underrated. I love my GS10s and I'll be upgrading to the PL100 here in the next few months. They are simply fantastic. Love the ribbon tweeter. And yes, go with the PL300. Much more fulfilling. Good luck.

Mapman - "I have yet to hear small monitors that can compete with equally good full range speakers for delivering the oomph that some music requires."No argument there. I love full range speakers, especially the Reference 3A. For an apartment dwel...
