| Best tube power amp(s)-B&W Matrix 802-S3 Dont rule out solid state . i used Threshold s300/2 for years with the 801s (not solid state- like most)great bass nice natural sound.Not tubes but is a great match for 801 or 2s. | |
| Preamps I have owned a #5 preamp, very quiet,smooth sounding and very natural. a little warm.works well with solid state amp.# 6 is a little better but cost more on the used market. I don't like the the newer preamps. I like the older style better. | |
| ARC PH3 The ph3 should be no problem using aux section with your a/r 9 . You will probably notice a little more body and more pronounced bass. hope that helps.(i too own ph3 into Thor linestage.works great! | |

| Who knows about Kharma Ceramique 1's I have not heard Vandy but,have heard Kharma1s at the Audible Difference shop in Conn. Using Thor AudioTPA30 monoblocks,and Thor lnestage. This is about as good as it gets.Kharmas and Thor are a great match.Hope that helps! | |
| Audio Research SP-9 phono vs PH-3 I have owned both peices,still have ph3,The sp9 is much brighter and machine like,compared to the ph3 which is more full bodied and easier to listen to for longer periods of time,less listener fatigue. Hope it helps. |
