Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
Hi Chris. Careful...early adopters claim the new S4's too heavy to be as much fun, despite the V8. Like me, you've already "chipped" (mine's an MTM) your 2.7T, and seemingly done a CAT-back to get from 300 to 330hp. Let's just hope the "glass-jaw"...
The obsession, the trees. The music, the forest.
Newbee, yes, rather than break Verity Audio's strict proscription to NOT readjust the Parsifals, I'm now working on my VLA (yup, V Listening A) not by retilting ME with a variety of visco-elastic and Thalalay (huh?) seat cushions.ZZZZZzzzz....
Power Cords - Shielding or No Shielding
Eldartford, it's nice if the shielding is NON-MAGNETIC, though...I really like the Belden 83803 over ANY BX....Hi Joe! If you send me a foot or so of it I can better comment. RSVP personally. Re Plugs my favorite cost-effective plug is the all-bla...
Power Cords - Shielding or No Shielding
Yes, generalizing, shielding is more useful on front end components than power amps. The LAT info is a decent primer, but doesn't offer much in depth. That's ok.There is widespread agreement that fluorocarbons' (Teflons)very low dielectric involve...
Whats the best used tuner for under 1000
NAD Monitor Series tuner, or tuner section of its receivers (7100, 7400 & 7600) is an outstanding choice, and cheap. The Audio refinement Complete tuner (used $400-500) is stellar too. But $1k gets you a new MD100, which I love!

Yeah, maybe I should stop relevelling my CDP with each disc?
Best power cable for PS Audio HCA 2
Hi Andrea! I'll make you one! I even have a couple of Italian AC plugs I bought while in Bologna last summer, so you won't need an adaptor. Let me know.
Electrocompaniet EMC II CD Player
Oneprof...and now a fortnight later?
great little speakers
Yes, the S3/5, even at 84dB/w sens will get pretty dynamic with the Rotel. For greater extension and slam you should look at the 88dB bigger (6.5", 165mm) S1/3P, or even the now-discontinued great SC3 center channel, turned sideways. It's exactly l...
Canare StarQuad or Monster XP speaker cable?
Sean's recs are great for in-wall use. If the cable's going to be visible the better-looking, easy to drape Canares are a better choice, and are a pro recording engineer's favorite because of ease of handling and sonic neutrality.Any of these opti...
Next Biggest Improvement after Speakers ?

great little speakers
Yeah, the 3/5. See my thread re the three baby Spendor versions. The Classic 3/5a is still the best...especially for your needs.
Logarithmic Frequency response graphs
Duddley, what you propose is a piano keyboard-like scaling, as '61 explained. Yes, both it and a traditional decade-log scale are both easy to read, and appropriate for audio.
Interconnect under $200 new or used.....
Canare StarQuad microphone cable. Shockingly good. The pro recording engineers all use it. I ran 30' sections from my Earthworks omnis on my Steinway though a Grace class A pre to an Alesis, and then into my Nordost SPM'd system. The old left/righ...
NOrdost with bottom end....
Nordost SPM thin and unfocused? Phew. Not in my system! I also tried "warmer" cables, realizing pretty quickly that top-rolling was their trick. With a very clean, high rez system the SPM are superb, and indeed better balanced than the edgier Red ...
