Ground loop when connecting coax to cable box.....
I bought the Mondial ground thingee and it worked like a charm.Though I thought it was kinda pricey at $100, it solved the problem completely.
What are you using to clean plasma screen?
Would like to add one thing, not that any of you use it but, stay the 'H' away from paper towels.A lot of owners of tt's use paper towels and that's the quickest way to ruin the tt cover/lid.
Scaled back to my computer need speakers
Try the Audioengine 5's. A musical active speaker with plenty of power and some low end. The also have a wood veneer for $100 more. When I checked into active's for a 'puter they were the only ones that made sense to me. Quad makes a couple active...
Cayin A-50t vs. Rogue Audio Cronus
The Rogue is made in the US isn't it?The Cayin's made in Communist China, making the Rogue the only choice.Does it not make sense to buy from your fellow Americans?
Camparing Creek Destinty to Exposure 2010S Wow
There is a hugh difference between a 2010 and 2010S.Not just an incremental difference like so many other brands!!!!An 'S' will blow away the Evo,5350 and the Destiny.Remember simple is usually better sounding. And btw,the Creek stuff is made in Co...
Outlaw M-200 sv. Hafler XL-280 bridged
Problem I see is running the 4 ohm speaker with a bridged amp such as the Hafler. Tha amp will effectively see a 2 ohm load in this case I believe. Although I'm no fan of Chinese products the Outlaw is a mono amp and henceforth should be able to r...
Preamp suggestions $200 - $400 range
Maybe the Bellari tubed phono stage, $250 retail. The Clearaudio 'Nano' is $350 retail and Music Hall has one for $150.Not sure which ones are Communist China made or they may all be.
Quicksilver amp owners
Roxy's description is right on. I had a pr. of the KT88 monos and they had pretty much the same sound.
Amps-Cables for Focal 1007 BE
Good idea, try the tube route first. Cables will only give a very small change and it sounds like you need more than a very small tweek.Cary and Quicksilver tube amps tend to be more forgiving in the midrange. Audio Research and CJ's tend to be a ...
With $20,000 in your hand, what speaker would you
One of the Apogees. There is a company called Octave that is bldg. Apogee type speakers and they can probably eat up your money. When I enquired about a replacement for my Stages I was quoted a price of 11 or 12k.
Clements Response speakers - seeking information
If you ever find a pr. of thr Clements speakers with the ribbon tweeter that was mentioned at the Clements website and in the previous post, BUY them. At this time , if you ever find a pr. which I highly doubt you'll find, they can be had for a so...
What one product has redefined music for you??
Yes, my wakeup came in 77/78 with a pair of EPI's.I didn't even know at that time there was a Hi-End. I was a yankee transplant living in Nashville of all places.Went back to yankee country in'90 and within 6 months of the Stereophile review of th...
A question I suspect reveals a lot of ignorance...
After further thought on this, I recall an article that said the power output devices in an amp are running full tilt all the time and the source/preamp is what controls input. Or something like that.Which at one time some cd players with volume c...
Carver sonic holography
Ok,I got one listener with a 1' sweetspot and one with a 6' sweetspot. So what makes up your sweetspot?
A question I suspect reveals a lot of ignorance...
I'm not posting this to start an argument. I equate this from a mechanical view.Consider the life of a gas powered motor vs. a diesel motor.Higher rpm's equals shorter life span.Simple idea. A good question. If we could get someone that absolutely...
