What should I expect after installing a new power management system?
My house was built in the 50s with mostly ungrounded circuits.  When appliances or the community well next door kick on, lights dim.  Early on, I ran power up from the basement so there was no noise when the refrigerator cycled on.  A used PS AUDI...
Ps audio aspen FR 30 Loudspeakers
I haven’t seen or heard them, and probably never will.  I do trust, though, that they spent years coming up with the very best speaker they could.  Those with more disposable income than me can judge.
tone arm with 10gr mass with 15 gram weight cartridge?
I went down this rabbit hole of concern when I had to buy a new turntable.  I wanted to use my very light Soundsmith SSMC1 B&O cartridge on a table with a much heavier arm than the B&O table.  I bought the table before I realized this migh...
The magic of outdoor listening
I’ll take a mood elevator regardless
The magic of outdoor listening
Don’t know if it’s boomer rock, but I have learned from my neighbors that there apparently is a streaming channel called something like “Top AM Top 40 hits of the early 80’s.”  They have an impressively loud and distorted Bluetooth speaker of some...
MM phono preamp upgrade for $1000?
I have the first version of the Nova Phonomena.  My listening tastes are probably similar to yours.  The Nova Phonomena does particularly well with percussion and bass rich music such as Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel, War, etc.
Ohm Walsh Talls (opinions sought)
If you do try a pair, give them a week or two to settle in.  My bass was crazy at first.
180g … It’s All Hype !
+1 on War “The World is a Ghetto.”  $5 and that’s one I would put on to show off my speakers.  Cisco Kid is a friend of mine too.
Ready to Pull the Trigger on a Record Cleaning Machine...
I use the most basic (all that was available at the time) cleanervinyl system with the separate drying fan.  I have a cheap 40 kHz tank that is the first wash.  Records go into this one after brushing and still wet with disc doctor cleaner.  The 1...
Ohm Walsh Talls (opinions sought)
I cannot comment about the smaller Ohm Walsh talls, and I can’t compare them to a lot of other speakers because I was sold on Ohm Walsh for my difficult room when I bought a used pair of Ohm Walsh 4s.  But I totally second the praises sung above f...
Need speaker recommendations.
In a fairly narrow but very deep room, I have Ohm Walsh 5000s about 18 inches from the front wall and side walls.  That’s the only place for them unless I remove furniture.  When I remove the REL subs I no longer need from the corners, I might mov...
B & O Speakers S 45-2 crossover ...a fire hazard ?
When I had old B&O speakers I bought an excellent crossover kit from a B&O expert hobbiest in the EU.  I think I found him on the Beoworld (?) forum.  Folks on that forum can probably help with your concern.
K-horn won't fit, any other corner speakers recommended for a big room?
Reading the post above, there are 4 “tone controls “ on the 5000’s which enabled me to really get them dialed in and put proper upper midrange in the room for the first time.  It’s hard to imagine a room that would want all the base they are capab...
K-horn won't fit, any other corner speakers recommended for a big room?
I have a long narrow room, about 15 x 40, with mostly glass along one wall and openings to a hallway an kitchen along the other.  My speakers are about 18 inches from the corners on the narrow front wall.  I replaced my old Ohm Walsh 4s with the 5...
Phono preamp advice
Used musical surroundings nova phonomena.  The original version is what I have, and percussive stuff like Talking Heads, War, Peter Gabriel, etc., jump.  It is also very adjustable, though I’m pretty basic with a Soundsmith SMMC1. I haven’t compa...
