Electronic crossover recommendations
Some of the new Behringer models have been getting talked about. Under $400, can function as a digital preamp, x-over and digital room eq. You can dial the thing in on your computer, and change EQ settings on the fly. The DIY crowd loves these thi...
GR Alpha Speakers
I'd also like to hear from anyone who has played with the Seas kits.
Whatever happened to HDCD?
Interestingly the Dick's Picks series from the Dead are all HDCD. My player is not though, so I can't say if the HDCD sounds better or not...
Mcintosh MA6900 v Krell 400xi for S F Cremona
Your room is huge, I suspect your Cremonas will struggle to fill it. Having said that, I have and use the Mac MC-202 which is essentially the amp section of the 6900. It's a great amp, but I agree with John that it may be too laid back with the S....
The Klipschorn
$6k new? Holy crap, I had no idea they were that much!
The Klipschorn
Someday I'd like to put together a tube/Klipschorn system. Setting aside source, what's the minimum investment for tube amp and pre or integrated to drive the K-Horn well? Just curios, not intending to hijack here, but since so many k-horn fans ar...
great little speakers
Check out ACI, hard to audition since they are a direct dealer, but their speakers tend to have the sound you describe.
subwoofers: the bigger the better?
Hey Stanwal - What are these Nelson Reed subs? I am thinking or replacing my subs with something with a bit more oomph and a bit more extension. 4 x 12 sounds like it might do the trick!
Help I have not bought equipment since mid 80's
Slow down! Take it all back and find a dealer in your are that you can work with. Then work with them to put together a new system based on some used and new components (to fit whatever budget you want to spend) that you like the sound of. It seem...
subwoofers: the bigger the better?
If your goal is music, not just LFE for HT, then I would say you are better off with two subs, in stereo, than one. I've been using stereo subs for over a year now and have been thrilled with the results.
Review: Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista SACD CD Player
Well, I don't think you can really say that BMW comes out with a new model every year, major re-designs are only every couple of years, at most. In any event, a car is a slightly more complicated piece of machinary than a DAC, so it makes sense th...
Review: Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista SACD CD Player
They are bringing out a Tri-Vista DAC as well...I agree that MF does too many models, it makes me think less of them, though I have been impressed with the models I have listened to.
How to keep my stack of Adcoms cool...
You could probably use some PC fans, they are quiet enough that you wouldn't hear them when music/movies are playing.
Which is best sub for N802 in fairly large room?
Tuong - HAve you tried stuffing the port on the B&Ws? Stick some socks in the port, this may help you. You may be having issues with your x-over points as well. Can you try running the B&Ws full range and still crossing in the subs at 40hz...
Which is best sub for N802 in fairly large room?
Bwyoung - If he is using an electronic cross-over, I don't see how he can get more bass by changing to bi-wire of his 802s, since all (or at least 90%) the bass is going to the subs anyway...
