Sota Sapphire and Isolation?
Quick update: I set up the Sapphire today. It sounds pretty damn killer just sitting on the shelf. I'm blown away by the sound stage, particularly the placement of instruments/voices. It seems just right. This is only a few albums in. Luckily, my ...
Sota Sapphire and Isolation?
Thank for this discussion y'all. I'll have to read it again when the TT arrives. I'm just gonna start with the TT on the shelf, see how that goes, and then experiment with the Gingko platform. It's not spring-loaded, by the way, it's a platform (u...
DeHavilland Still in Business?
Thanks, y'all! I'm happy to know they are open to building new pieces. I'll reach out to Kara in the coming weeks.
Thoughts About Turntable Upgrades
I agree with some have pointed out; the quality of my analog source is not on par with my digital source. Thankfully, my spouse didn't lose it when I mentioned the idea of maybe, some time in the future, you know, getting a new turntable. 😉
Thoughts About Turntable Upgrades
Thanks for the input, y'all. It's given me some more to chew on and research. I'll definitely check out MoFi and start reading up on phono pre-amps.  Source quality is important for sure. I absolutely can hear the difference. I do still enjoy use...
Rega P3 vs SOTA Comet III
Late response, but I figured I'd chime in. I have the P3 and replaced the Exact cart. To my ears, it accentuated surface noise, the bottom end wasn't as robust as I wanted, and the highs were too high. I replaced it with a Denon 103. Huge differen...

DAC Questions
Thanks again, y'all. I always appreciate the support from Audiogon. The education phase actually is fun for me once I get over that initial hump of recognizing how much information is out there! Happy holidays to everyone.
DAC Questions
My God, DACs are a rabbit hole! I was feeling confident about the Lampi, but now there are just so many choices. Geez! I guess part of the challenge is that as a relative newby to digital there is a lot that I don't know. I got a lot to learn.  A...

Salk Sound vs Legacy Audio
Thanks for great feedback so far! The amp (Quad 909) and preamp (Vac 20.1) I'll be using will be outmatched to some degree, but both perform beyond their price point IMHO. I hope my Rega and Cary sources are up for the task. My gut is leaning towa...
Salk Sound vs Legacy Audio
Thanks man! I'd love to take you up on the offer if I could. At this point, I'm making a significant jump in quality with these speakers, whichever I purchase. My system is comprised of a Quad 909 power amp, a Vac 20.1 Linestage run in passive mod...
Quad 909 Binding Posts
Just to close the loop on this thing: I purchased the Canare 4S11 from Blue Jeans cable with locking banana cables on the Quad amp and biwired spades on the speakers. Sounds pretty good straight out of the box. First obvious difference is the bass...
Quad 909 Binding Posts
Thanks for your reply and sorry for the late reply. I was using bare wire from an old set of MIT cables, but the connection was just not sufficient to avoid some fluttering/crackling from the speakers. I brought the amp to my repair guy to modify ...
Quad 909 Binding Posts
Thanks for your reply. It definitely won't take spades.
