Life After Your Magnepan’s
Just a second vote for Soix's recommendation to check out the Nola KOs. Years ago when I had a 20'x38' family room,  I went from Maggies to Alons (predecessor of Nolas) and was very happy with the IVs and finally the Circes. These were more dynami...
So just how much vinyl do YOU own?
I got rid of 2500 LPs a few years ago. Just too much to lug around. Shed a few tears. Still had around 1200 CDs, 75% classical. And I forget how many opera DVDs/BRDs. But no vinyl. Sold the turntable. Then I got married. My husband, Opera Beau, has...
what is it in audio that you dislike most?
Audio store salesmen assuming my husband is the audiophile when we shop together as a couple.Speakers with tipped up treble and/or narrow sweet spots.Compressed recordings.
Alon 4 or JBL590?
Just to echo Ron, I loved my Alon IVs!  They were incredible value for money and  they did so many things well. They have a very open un-boxy sound with a HUGE soundstage. They need a some space and they do need a 200 watt high current amp to cont...
Opinions of GoldenEar Triton 1
The day we auditioned the 3+ and 2+, we played around with positioning quite a bit. I thought both models were very forgiving of room placement (they  do want to be toed in, but they don't need to be very far from the back wall) and both models ha...
Opinions of GoldenEar Triton 1
I’m afraid I haven’t spent much time with the T1 but I love the Triton line and have chosen its slightly smaller, less expensive sibling, the Triton 2+ as our next speaker. That said, I think all the Tritons are all terrific values. The Ones have r...
Is unamplified music the gold standard?
This boomer's gold standard is live, acoustic music - classical mainly, including orchestral, vocal and instrumental + some acoustic pop and jazz. I was a choral singer for many years, former church organist, played briefly in a band, and I'm marr...
Looking for suggestions on best small footprint speaker under $4K
Former Maggie fan here - went to GoldenEar and LOVE them. I think the 2+/3+ are actually very attractive, in a minimalist modern sort of way. But if you can't stand the looks of the GE Tritons I'd suggest you take a look at Nola speakers - either ...
Used Market Savings vs. The Dealer Experience
You just experienced the best reason to establish a relationship with and purchase from a dealer. And I was tickled to hear you say "she". Not too many of us in high end audio.
Upgrade Triton two to Triton two +
Thanks in advance, Dave,The Twos for $1400 is a steal. I can't think of anything else in that price that would come close. If I hadn't heard the T3+ and T2+ I would have been very interested in the Twos. We auditioned a lot of speakers up to 5k,  ...
Upgrade Triton two to Triton two +
Dave, I think you're on the right track. Auditioning the 2+ and One is the way to go. In the final analysis, it's what sounds right to *your* ears with *your* music in *your* room. And if that's your T2s - so be it. They're still darned good speak...
Upgrade Triton two to Triton two +
davelarz - did you ask your dealer what he feels the improvements are? You might want to post this question on the forum at the GET website.I’ve heard the Three, the Three+ and the Two+ - but not the Two. So I can only make an educated guess about...
speakers with balls
Arafiq - +1
High-End Standmounts: KEF LS50W vs. NOLA Boxer II vs. Revel M106
Another vote for the Nola Boxers.I know I'm in the minority, but I did not care for the LS50s at all (auditioned both the passive and active models and truly expected to like them after all the praise). I especially disliked them with massed strin...
Speakers costing range of 2500-3500 per pair
Listened to a lot of speakers in this price range last year. Our favorites in this price range were the GoldenEar Triton 2+ ($3500) or 3+ ($2500), but we also liked the Aria 936s. Based on past experience, the Vandy 1s would also be good to auditi...
