Power Cable Audioquest Dragon vs Isotek EVO3 Ascension
NEVER buy without listening in YOUR system FIRST! Cords do make a difference but in my experience, the effect is unpredictable.
Bought A Set of Martin Logan CLX ART Its Going To Be An Adventure
I have Maggie 3.3r's, very different character but similar placement issues. After decades of trial and error (I have NEVER heard a speaker as finicky about placement, though I suspect the ML's are the same), I finally settled on following Paul Mc...
$50k - $80k Budget…Opinions please.
I realize that 50-75k is a moderately expensive system, these days, but it's STILL a huge chunk of money! I'd put 5k aside as a travel budget and go to several dealers (don't forget manufacturers who have in-house systems or who sell direct (PS Au...
Fantasy or reality? Inexpensive solid state preamps that get you 80% there?
The VTA SP14 ( http://www.tubes4hifi.com/SP14.htm ) The basic kit is about $1050 and can be purchased fully wired for about $1600. You can add super spec parts like Mumford Ag/Au caps and Kuzmo volume controls, etc as you desire. In base form, it ...
Ditching Class A Amps due to Heat - Sort of a Poll
I've owned a Krell 100wpc space heater for 30 years, I kinda like the natural warmth in winter. Seriously, I've got a big room and, even then, it can get too warm in summer, so I have to open the door that sits between the speakers. Found out quic...
Do I need a streamer?
@soix Thanks for the suggestion! That was actually my next upgrade planned. I've been slogging around trying to choose the best option. I was looking at the pd Creative kit but they don't offer a USA 120v power supply and the shipping from Poland ...
Do I need a streamer?
For almost a year, I used my iPod to stream directly to the line input, I then added a used outboard DAC (Schiit Gungnir) and streamed to that. It was an easily audible improvement in the treble smoothness and soundstage! I just added a used Bluso...
I have seen a lot of ideas concerning Cable lifters
Being a firm believer in my own ears, I'm going to make some DIY lifters this weekend and give them a try. Not that it'll change anyone's already formed opinion, but I'll post the results yea or nea.
I have seen a lot of ideas concerning Cable lifters
My question: Assuming you believe cable lifters make a difference (and I do) what is the cause? Are they preventing transmission of floor borne vibration, eliminating electrical or magnetic interference from the floor/carpet or eliminating conduct...
Which would you choose for good sounding tube preamp for an audiophile new to tubes.
VTA SP14. http://www.tubes4hifi.com/SP14.htm Very musical without being tubey and, in kit form, a bargain even with all the available upgrades!
Looking for a new (preowned OK) line stage under $5K: suggestions?
VTA at http://www.tubes4hifi.com/. I bought the SP14 ultimate as a kit and have NEVER been happier.
"World's Best Cables" vs Audioquest interconnects
Trust your ears! Your system, your money, your happiness. What all of us think should not make a difference.
My stereo receiver is a little too bright. Can a cable help me out?
Agree, let it run in. If that's not enough, try moving the speakers so they point more away from your ears to the outside. Toe them out, if you know what I mean. Tweeters can be very bright on axis but fall off more than other drivers as you move ...
xperience with Grados The Statement 2 (vs. Audio Technica Art)
I own a Grado Reference 2 and found it a significant upgrade from my older Reference v1. Detail and snap was significantly improved with no added harshness. Soundstage is excellent and precise. I am using the old Grado PH1 phono preamp and the gai...
