How do you judge audio components and speakers?
There are certain poster that ONLY show up to be a problem for other's, WATCH. No other reason to even post. AND they have NEVER bought a single thing to support AG in ANY WAY.. Shouting is fine, especially when it's not your business. Post your 2...
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged.
I have to say this. No one is going to beat a dead horse. I just cleaned up after two and if that is an indication of what is inside, YOU AIN'T gonna beat any dead horse. WOW, what has my wife been feeding them. Holy$hit! I think the oats ferment...
Audiophiles on Audiogon.
party poopers! the bold face hurt my head. Let me turn down the BASS That should be repeated in a "Baritone" voice correct? Like in Dirty Dancin' Bill Medley "I've Had the time of my life". That baritone. :-) If it's not complicated it's not wo...
Just my observation - seems like there is less listed on AG
Even a mule can learn... I guess an A$$ is beyond reach. Arrogant business plan at best.. How is that business plan working.. LOL
Just my observation - seems like there is less listed on AG
AG has one of the best ideas around, complete merchandise support from FREE and (some even pay) forum members. AG still doesn't understand the forum members were also the one BUYING the merchandise and looking for support from the members that sug...

More Wine and pickles! Eggs too..
Why Do You Post?
I posted that for a reason. Watch what happens. I’m still bored. You posted to show your reverence for the stereo world. I posted to show my support for the many AG posters that are no longer here. I know HOW to hook up RCA, that is what AG has tu...
REL Subwoofer to match monitor speakers similar to Raidho X-1s?
60-80hz and below is sub and not directional. What does your mains roll off at? Look at the specs to see if it will work. When ANY salesman recommends ONE sub I take notice. 1980s maybe. NOW 2 subs at least. Few people can set up a single sub for...
How Electricity Actually Works
I'm glad I'm retiring. Electrical Engineering degrees. I dug ditches and laid pipe. Water runs down hill. OK, You got a degree in plumbing. Oh and keep your hands out of your mouth. How many engineers does it take to wire a new house? I got a que...
What defines mid-fi versus high-end?
Lo-Fi is that a Fi too? Kind of like small, medium and large. One size does not fit all. I like Lo-Fi when I'm walking the fence line or just doing nothing. It's to much work to try anything better. :-) One ear listening.
Electrical
#8 won’t fit any receptacle. There is NO need for anything beyond #12 on a dedicated 20 amp. If the run is so long there is a voltage drop, you should have ran a 220/240 sub panel anyway. Save your money and BUY good copper Romex along with Hubbel...
Higher amperage fuse for sound quality
There you go OP. I'd get a new fuse and see if the old one had an issue. I trust my ears. But I still like to know why. That little wire can be a PITA. Considering everything to that point is probably 14 gage or better. They do make slow blow fuse...
How do you judge audio components and speakers?
mahgister some people understand acoustics and some people don't. It's pretty simple. Helmholtz is the ONLY way to tune a room. Vibration and electrical are just as important..  I personally like ugly.. I don't have 10,000 post but I've read 10,0...
2 channel preamp for music only system
I still have a few Adcoms 7400, 5800, 5500, 565 x a few. I had a pair of 565 rebuilt by Brain and a 5800. They were better than a lot of the older Macs. The 5800 was over 400 wpc after Brain did his work.. It’s a good Pass design. They could spin ...
Speakers on carpet over concrete
Completely decouple, no spikes at all. I didn't think people still used spikes on speakers. I've had to dig up basements and fix water, add drains and repair or replace waste pipes. All the guys with stereos in there basements use pods or springs,...
