Network Switches
#adamaley We used to make the accredited, especially the M$ network certified guys, work in the back, till we could beat most of the stupid out of them. ;)
Network Switches
Here's the deal. Any good service should download their stuff to a good sized fifo. Then you are playing it off your SSD and all this network nonsense goes away. In Linux that's quite simple, I can make a fifo, any size I want, dump the network s...

LOL. There is one born every minute. ;)
Who needs a Preamp??
A preamp sets the stage. My SFL1 Sig++ throws a stage with right and left, up and down and near and far. Its quite amazing with the right stuff. The Chesky Test CD is just frightening. ;)
Herbie’s Super Black Hole CD Mat - Wow!
Just rip it with a cheap DVD burner. Yup there are some that will play anything.  No transport can match an NVME SSD for sheer capability and files do sound better off one.
To power strip or not
Yeah all the filters are not great. I bit the bullet and bought an old PS Audio Power Plant Premiere 1 AC Regenerator, not cheap but damn its nice.
Why does streaming need to be so complex
A couple of things. Any decent stream is simply a fifo on the machine you are doing it on. I'm not sure, but Apple seems to screw this up. As long as you have a good DAC it should be easy. I'll have to build a Linux sound server to really get con...

Help an old fool upgrade his digital thing.
Yes indeed. I'm 73 and just rebuilt my system.  Music sounds best off an SSD, it really does. So I have already ripped hundreds of my CDs, to WAV of course, and have that backed up well. I have many more, but I can play em' with my $35 DVD burner....
Whats playing on your system today?
Blind Idiot God with Before Ever After from 2105.  DL 44.1 on to my NVME SSD. Just Awesome!
Herbie’s Super Black Hole CD Mat - Wow!
LOL. Rip that crap. It just sounds better, I can recommend an NVME SSD, right from the PCIe bus as a player. A $35 DVD burner is so much more capable than any CD drive for ripping your stuff. ;)
