Any ideas on the Bryston BDA-1 DAC
No idea myself but stereophile just released a review. It's on their website.
Review: LSA1 Statement
"To address one final point of this 'review, submitted by someone who joined this site the day the review was written, always a red flag.I would submit that another red flag is when the reviewer is attacked and dismissed because his or her review ...
Speaker separation versus listening distance??
+1 on both preceding comments and consider as well that angle (toe in or out) can be non standard as well. I have found that my room requires on speaker be more than 5 degrees different from the other to center the sound image.
CDP or CDP/ DAC - different question
actually Mezmo that is a pretty good way of looking at it. I think that folks still worry about some aspects of the bit stream (jitter?) this way but you have a point. If you only need a transport why not make it a computer? Same issues or differe...
Lexicon MV-5; Any good?
out of curiosity anyone know what is under the hood of a MV-5? Given the latest discussion/raving/whatever of the new player with OPPO inside I wonder. If Lexicon did not have the time or bandwidth (expertise??) to do a player I would be surprised...
Wilson Audio's New Sound?
Stringreen folks get miffed when the get someone coming at them in a insulting tone or with a insulting suggestion. Your tone was easily interpreted that way and your suggestion implied that folks dont know what actual music sounds like. Its nice,...
Help with speaker choice
how about Zu Essence? should be fine with that power level and they are supposed to sound good given how often they show up in demo stands at shows. Leaves $1500 left over for cables/DAC/whatever?
Name your lame duck artist........
Easy - Ashlee Simpson and Taylor Swift. Makes me embarrassed to be a fellow biped. One a lighter note I was in a dive bar (think stage surrounded by chicken wire) in arizona a few years back and a terrible band was trying to play. Lead singer? hol...
Monoprice HDMI Silver vs. Copper
Audioholics did a nice test of HDMI cables and my take away was that cable length was the dominate factor. I suspect that a short cable cares not who makes it. Look the test up and they list results versus vendor.
B&W CM1's vs. ERA 5's
Actually the drivers were designed by kelly, the speakers were voiced by the owners of ERA. THey use a ARCAM AVR350 as a reference to voice with. I have a set of D4's as rears and D5 in another room. I've never heard the CM1's so no opinion there.
Paradigm 90P or Studio 100,s
no experience with 90p's but I would not think that that the studio 100's would qualify as "too revealing" in most cases. You are really getting into opinions here. I have a disk ripped with crap recordings and used this extensively before I bough...
Speakers and glue......
B&W XTVienna SCHÖNBERGseems like they are mostly metal. I also recall that there were some Lucite or acrylic models out there. I recall seeing some show report that had a clear glass or plastic cabinet with only electronics and drivers install...
Oppo BDP-83 question
heres a question for you SE knowledgeable types. Can I run the video out the HDMI and the audio out the analog outs at the same time. I ask because it has rca video outs and I find nothing that actually says you can do that. Likely a dumb question...
Surround Speakers for B&W
I am running era d4's which are really good and pretty small. nice finish as well. they can hang with stout 5.1 music with ease. Wife even let me keep the grills off as she likes the veneers. go figure.
My findings on Magico V2.....what now?
interesting point by extension. If you dont like or get excited by what you hear in a dealer the implication is that perhaps you should get them anyway and work out the "kinks"? I can see what you mean but that sort of implies that the Wow factor ...
