JADIS DEFY7, can not get it to sing
Finally after owning this amp some 15 yrs, added all new Mundorf Gold Silver caps, (The blue Philips caps were not changed as those caps are high fidelity) So my tech guy here in New Orleans, RG decided to test it w KT120's as we were going to lis...
My New DavidLouis Full Range speakers now finished
Hey David, well actually I figured out as to why the vids I made past 2 yrs sounded so much superior on my comp vs this last YT vid... I had a  small issue w my comp and had to take it in, unpluged the $20 exterior speakers and FORGOT to replug in...
My New DavidLouis Full Range speakers now finished
well just listened,,, not sure why this sound is not up to par with my older vid recordings posted on YT,,,this YT vid really is a  poor  rendition of how this speaker performs in real time. But it is what it is. Just saying anyone who may have in...
Midwoofer+Tweeter vs Wide band
dlcockrum 2,160 posts 06-11-2022 at 08:19pm @mozartfan Several of your comments in your last post puzzle me. Obviously you know the sound and the limitations of the speakers you own, but not of those that you have not heard. I feel sure that...
Midwoofer+Tweeter vs Wide band
Just ordewred the NEW DLVX SE6,, has the new Neo magnets,, and same style whizzer as the VX8,, I have the older VX6 and may/may not run all 3 FR in the system. IMHO this high end FR beats any woofer/tweeter as far as vocals and all mid fq's. I mea...
Which pair of speakers changed your Hifi life?
Dumped my Seas Thors MTM for dual Full Range a  8 inch + 6 inch DavidLouis wood cone, clone of Voxativ.. Would not ever EVER consider going back to any/every woofer/tweeter thing. Been there DONE THAT.  Full range for me is top of Mount Everest, ...
The Best Speakers in the World!
I bought Philips 2 ways, with the famous AD162 clear dome tweeter (many still swear by this tweeter as best vocal rendition...) I thought the WORLD of that speaker,,,til I placed 1 Philips on one channel and my new Seas Thors MTM on the other, res...
Midwoofer+Tweeter vs Wide band
Check out Cube Audio Nenuphar V2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yes I've heard good things about Cube, WE have a Cube owner here in New Orleans, but am still waiting for a audition at his home. I should rephrase me above comment. A FR does in ...
Midwoofer+Tweeter vs Wide band
Having said that the Woofer Assisted Wide Band, a type of two way with very low crossover point, makes a lot more sense to me ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ All woofers have a very low sens in the 20hz-60hz range = worthless. Its alllll about sen...
Midwoofer+Tweeter vs Wide band
Thors to me is one of the worst sounding dynamics I have ever owned ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Odd your opinion, Based on my talk with Josh at Madisound, he too feels Excel drivers are extremely neutral, zero coloration/fatgue, Troels has...
Midwoofer+Tweeter vs Wide band
I have a system with a compression driver/horn midrange (Western Electric 713b driver KS12025 horn), twin 12" woofers in a Jensen/Onken cabinet) and Fostex bullet tweeters like yours on top. The 713b driver is my favorite compression driver, but,...
Horn speakers are really bright?
This is the main event in my speaker system. I can not allow even 1 tiny complaint about how this speaker performs.  Sadly not avaliable any longer. I bought one of the few remaining pairs  some 2 yrs ago, He continues to list his VX6 which i...
Horn speakers are really bright?
’Bright’ is subjective. ’Fatigue’ is another factor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Oh come on, Lets all tag snakeoil when we hear it. Bright, screechy, steel-y, harsh, attacking, name it as you wish, It all amount...
Soundstage and image height, does it exist?
One considertion to ponder here in this discussion of xover box types trying to compete with a  higher end FR design is the evident fact that woofers are not so good at fq's above 1500hz and Tweeters not so good at below the critical 3k hz range. ...
Soundstage and image height, does it exist?
I will atempt to explain why a  FR is superior form of speaker in all classical music vs a  xover box design With my dual FR drivers at 92-95db and dual tweeters at 91 db , the most subtle,  hush instrumentaion/ notes can be detected without havin...
