Rix Rax or Grand Prix
hi Tim, i would be careful with the combination of the Grand Prix rack and the Basis 2500.....the fluid suspension of the Basis and the 'sloppy' suspension of the Grand Prix will probably not work well together. i don't know that for sure but when...
neutrality vs. realism
Paul, only 2 dimensions? i experience 3 dimensions with most recordings and regularly have that "this is really happening here and now" sensation. there is resolution in the software to recreate the 3 dimensional illusion if you can reach it and t...
I'm taking votes
Thsalmon, as a Linn CD-12 owner i would recommend that you consider what your current priorites and future directions are. will you be upgrading you whole system over time? how confident of your present amps and speakers are you that you see that ...
neutrality vs. realism
my view of this issue is the concept of your system "getting out of the way of the music". when you are able to concentrate on the performance and not on the influence your system has on the musical message.....you have gone beyond 'HiFi' into 'ju...

Kharma CRM 3.2F
the last time this question was posed "new Kharma Ceramique 3.2's" it spiraled down into philosophical muck......66 posts. not much usable information....much postureing. if you look on the speaker forum, last post Oct. 12th, you can sift thru the...
ONE shot to show off your System's Stuff
Dead heat between the Classic 45rpm Lp of Louis Armstrong's "St. James Infirmary" or Ella Fitzgerald's "Misty" off of "Let No Man Write My Epitath". both recordings are of musical giants at their absolute prime, perfectly recorded with fantastic m...
Diana Krall's New CD "Live in Paris"????
this is my favorite Krall recording so far. this one is back to her small combo Jazz roots. there are a few cuts with a string section.....but it sounds natural and in the same acoustic. the band is tight, Krall's piano playing is very good and ou...
Speaker match for 75 watt Tenor amps
last year when i was waiting for my Tenors i borrowed a BAT VK75SE for 3 weeks. it was a very nice amp, excellent dynamics, detail and extension. no complaints at all. but when the Tenors came it was no contest....the difference in clarity and art...
Speaker match for 75 watt Tenor amps
first, you are smart to start with a great amp and then find the right speaker.....the amp/speaker match is to me the most significant decision in any system. i went with the Tenor/Kharma.....but the Verity Parsifal/Tenor is a very good combo....a...
What is your most beautiful component?
thanks Patrick for the kind words.....i do enjoy my system....especially when sharing it. if you are ever in the Seattle area e-mail me and come on over for a listen.i promise plenty of food and no chores.btw, your system is nothing to sneeze at e...
What is your most beautiful component?
my Kharma Exquisite 1D speakers and then maybe the Tenor amps followed by the Linn CD-12 and Rockport Sirius II L.E. turntable.....here is a link;http://cgi.audioasylum.com/systems/663.htmlscroll to the bottom and click on the picture link.btw, Ba...
Al Dimeola , Russ Freeman, Chick Corea...
as you would expect, the cd is good.....but falls short of the sacd. the sacd has better detail, soundstage depth and transparency, and has a greater ease and naturalness. there is more inner texture and explosiveness to the dynmamics on the sacd....
Al Dimeola , Russ Freeman, Chick Corea...
just in case......you may be referring to Al Dimeola, John McLaughlin and Paco DeLuca "Friday Night In San Francisco" which is a killer live acoustic guitar recording.....of which i have the cd, sacd and 2 versions of the lp (all recommended).you ...
The Best Amplifier Ever ?
i had the Halcro DM-58 in my room last year for 3 days and was very impressed. it was the fastest, most detailed, most transparent and most extended top to bottom amplifier i have heard. it had seemingly unlimited dynamics and excellent bass slam....
