?'s about quality of audiophile recordings
They still represent the best you can get of the fab four in any format. You will not get universal agreement on your statement regarding the superiority of MoFi Beatles LPs.Regards,
Kubala-Sosna & Meitner Emm Labs Gets my top Vote
must use the AT&T glass optical connections between your Meitner modified Philips transport and your Meitner dacI did not realize there was an option here. When this combination was purchased, were all the pieces for this mode of communication...
New Stereophile format
I like the larger font they have chosen for the technical sidebars. Much easier to read.Regards,
Cars R OK, but what kind of motorcycle do you have
Original 1990 jelly-bean Honda CBR600F in white and gray. My bike has only done 6000 miles. It looks a lot like this one, although mine does not have "CBR" written on the side. It does have the groovy Honda "wing" symbol on the tank though. A swee...
Best headphones you've ever heard/used
10 feet's not a problem. Get a long cord.On the Bose n/c phones, I have had Sony $200 n/c phones for three years or so and was sitting next to a traveler with the Bose jobs, so I listened to both through my Total AirHead. I did not think there was...
Best CD or SACD of Stabat Mater - Pergolesi
Hyperion (SACDA67108) by Robert King - The King's Consort sounds very good on hybrid SACD.Regards,
Best headphones you've ever heard/used
Etymotic in-ear headphones (and probably all ear-buds) don't have noise cancelling per se, but do supress the external noise levels by virtue of their design. And they apparently do it very well. I use Bose noise cancelling headphones on the 'plan...
Avalon Eidolon Diamond VS Talon Firebird Diamond
I'd love to have the pleasure of having to choose between those two loudspeakers. They are such different designs that the final gram that tips the scales could be looks. The Firebirds look so damn exciting, but the Avalons are beautiful in a clas...
Why haven't we heard more about HR-X???
There were two HR-X turntables at HE2003 in SF last year, and both sounded divine. As Jond said, HiFi+ loved the unit and that magazine has a lot street cred. Still, I am surprised that TAS hasn't had a look at one. Stereophile? - the other poster...
Why the switch from Kharma/Tenor to DarTZeel/VSA
Based on my auditioning, I agree with Nrchy.By the way Thom_y, the original version of this pithy little saying was delivered by Groucho; Woodie knew which side his bread was buttered on, but he didn't bake that one.Regards,
Cycle Conversion
Would the frequency of the mains supply be important? I would think that the amp would not be sensistive to this. He may need a transformer though - is the mains voltage in Vietnam 240v?Regards,
best non guitar rock solo
Some of Al Kooper's raves on the Hammond organ always appealed to me - "Super Session" perhaps. Sid Page on violin with Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks - "I Scare Myself". Maybe David LaFlamme on "White Bird" - another fiddle player. Clarence Clemmons...
Turntable or go into SACD, Simon Yorke vs EMM Lab
I'm not worried about BlueRay. You already have a great turntable, and a superb arm and cartridge. I've never heard a Simon Yorke, but the reputation this 'table holds is stellar. If you really can get a "great deal" then it certainly would be ver...
Best Small Speakers
Why wall mounting? Could you say what you mean by "small"?Regards,
Name 1 Cable in your system you could not live w/o
My DIY silver foil speaker cables. Because I made them myself, I'm very partial to them. More importantly, in joining in the group buy on AA I got to "meet" (via email) John Chapman of Bent Audio - what a nice guy. They sound fine.Regards,
