Question about SACD and DSD
When you're using DLNA, you're not playing from or through the computer.  The files are sent from the server (like a NAS or hard disk) to the DNLA  bridge and out to the DAC.  The computer is merely the digital media controller.

Question about SACD and DSD
Sorry here, a typo: DLNA = Digital Living Network Alliance It is a device used so that your music files can bypass your computer while still using the computer to control the flow of music, as with JRiver.  Bypassing the computer is good since it ...
Question about SACD and DSD
If you can manage ripping the SACD into .dsf files you can easily play them from a computer into your separate DAC. If the DAC has a USB input that would be the easiest.  Otherwise you ca get a USB to spdif converter.  Bypassing the Denon and g...
Upgrade in streamer changed my mind on the Tidal vs Qobuz option
First, Qobuz offers some higher than red-book resolution files.Beyond that, my own measurements, using MusicScope, suggest that the HIFI files of Tidal, which are advertised to be red-book quality, fall below that standard.  They are far below usi...
Victory at Sea - original LPs Vs Remastered LP or CD
I just listened to some of it in remastered stereo on Tidal. It sounded rather good. This is definitely NOT elevator music,* but film score by the composer Richard Rodgers. Like many film scores, whether it can be listened to in isolation, or must...
USB cable
There are people who lift the ground after handshaking takes place.  Others install a small resistor in the ground line.
USB cable
Solid core cables are best for USB.  All Audioquest cables ae solid core, for ex.  Silver helps too.  A Hong Kong ebay advertiser of solid core silver USB cables made one up for me that is a great performer.  I had been experimenting with USB cabl...
Qobuz vs idagio vs primaphonic
@ei001h,To tell exactly what you have, you have to run some of the track through a diagnostic program.  I use MusicScope, unfortunately no longer available.  I do not know of a similar program.Primephonic does not tell you what the sample frequenc...
Qobuz vs idagio vs primaphonic
I have so far tried Tidal and Primephonic for classical music. To see exactly what they are delivering I have run file segments through MusicScope, a program that tells you exactly what you have. Keep in mind that when your DAC registers a number ...
Supra High-Speed USB 2.0 A-B
Generally I like Supra cables.  But IMO their loudspeaker and power cables are their sweet spot.I used Supra USB cable for quite a while.  Following suggestions of others I found it was outperformed by inexpensive cables from Monoprice and Audioqu...
Tariff for used item from Canada to US
I am at a loss to understand this.  I am in the US.  For many years I have been buying electronic (and other) merchandise from foreign countries. Among these 2 cartridges, a DAC, connectors.  They have come mostly from Asia, but also from Canada a...
Best Cable Option: Streamer to DAC
"Jitter is no longer an issue with most modern DAC’s or streamers that now has internal clocks to combat jitter."This is totally incorrect as virtually any DAC will provide better SQ if it is fed a cleaner digital signal. There are many fine render...
Any Fatboy Unipivot Users?
@lewm,A search reveals: Merriam-Webster treats the phrases couldn’t care less and could care less as synonymous, both meaning "not concerned or interested at all." "Couldn’t care less" is the older and more obvious phrase grammatically, but it has...
Oppo BDP-103...still relevant?
It does stream Netflix, YouTube and some others, including Tidal.  It can also be used to rip SACDs and for a while was in demand just for that reason.  If it's in good shape it will serve you well for a long time.  Support is still available from...
