First impressions of new MH-DA006, Musetec flagship

I have received the 006 almost a week ago and have been breaking it in. The price at Shenzhenaudio is $3,900.00 USD, $600 more than the 005. The ad copy states:

"DA006 is a new generation of flagship DAC developed by Musetec over three years and launched in 2024. During this period, it has undergone more than ten revisions and adjustments.

Compared to the previous DA005, the listening experience of DA006 has been improved in all aspects. DA006 has clearer and richer details, a stronger sense of texture, a more stable sound base, better detail control, a wider soundstage, fuller and more powerful, smoother and more natural. . ."

Some brief listening during break in has been very very positive. I will report back when it has run at least 300 hours.

I used an lks with lks power supply on my 005, i2s, it sounded excellent, good synergy, an improvement over USB in my system.  I have since moved on to an 006 and Gaia, definitely a move up.  I still have the lks and power supply, if interested pm me.

Hi

       I am an owner of DA005 for several years now.

       It is a great sounding DAC, but I just hate the pop-up sound when switching between PCM and DSD files. Does anyone know how to fix this?

       Does DA006 have the same problem? This is usually done with firmware update. Thank you everybody.

@audiobb

I also have had the DA005 for several years.  The problem may be with your files and not the DAC.

I did have popping sounds on my DSD files, but only those that I had ripped from SACDs.

It's a while ago and I don't remember the details of the fix, but after doing some research, I recall that I had to re-rip all of them using a procedure that set a particular bit.  And the problem was no more.

Hi,

     That is not the case here. I have another system in my workplace, and exactly the same files go through ESS9038PRO based DAC (DIYINHK components).

     I don’t have pop-up sounds in my office system with exactly the same files.

I don’t have pops either when switching to any type of sample rate on 005. However, my Lampizator used to do this and it was an issue with the combination of JLSounds  usb firmware and Windows driver on the music server. I don’t remember all the details but if I used Linux then it went away. If you are using Roon, you can set “Resync delays” which will sent silence frame momentarily when switching sample rate and see if that helps. What streamer/music server are you using ? Maybe try a different one ?
