Allman, Clapton, and Simon
I agree with you completely. It is amazing that these guys are still alive, much less making new music. I also agree with some of the posts above about Bryan Ferry and Neil Young. One nontraditional source of music I have enjoyed in recent years i...
Thanks R.E.M.
I grew up in Atlanta and the first time I saw REM was the Summer of 1980 when they opened for The Swimming Pool Q's at the 688 club. I remember thinking that they were a really fun band because the lead singer had a mophead of hair and danced like...
West Coast Blues
Thanks for the suggestions. One of the things I like about this genre is that there is a wide variety of artists to explore. Marty, I agree with you about Danny Gatton, one of my favorites, and Clarence Gatemouth being more of a Tx/LA. style. I br...
How old is too old?
Age is merely a function of attitude. I am more picky now about where I sit for live music. I don't want to have to stand up the whole time. As far as systems go, just because it is loud, it is not necessarily good.
Saw Steely Dan
Has Steely Dan been using the Instant Live recording system at their shows? It would be fantastic to have a recording of their tour live.
Certified Guitar Player
Tommy Emmanuel is a living certified guitar player who understudied Atkins. I highly recommend seeing him live. As an amateur guitar player, every time I see Emmanuel, I am torn between practicing more or throwing my instrument away. Some of his l...
Music server
I would look at the Olive 4HD or the 6HD for a single box solution.
Zappa question
I really like "Imaginary Diseases" which is a collection of live instrumentals released a couple of years ago. The recording is excellent. Go to Amazon and listen to a sample of the title track and "Montreal". I think this is one of Zappa's most a...
Best CD I've heard so far 2011.........
I really like REM's new one "Collapse Into Now" It is closer to their earlier works with jangly guitars and good harmonies. Eddie Vedder and Patty Smith sing background vocals. As far as new artists go, I have enjoyed The Big Something out of Nort...
What is your favorite tv theme song/composition?
What an entertaining thread! Great suggestions. I agree with Hawaii Five-O and Andy Griffith. How about going way back: Batman, The Monkees, Lost in space, and the Twilight Zone.
Need Blues Rec--burn the house down guitar stuff
Nick Moss and the Fliptops- they have several live cd's. Sadie Mae is an excellent studio releaseSean CostelloRonnie EarlJoe Bonnamassa was one of Danny Gatton's protogesand I agree about Danny Gatton.
Keeping up on new releases, reissues, etc.
It all depends on what type of music you listen to. I subscribe to Relix. Relix includes a cd with each issue. This is a great source for new music. Allmusic.com has a forward calendar for all genres. Home Grown music network is an online source f...
What's the best Drive By Truckers disc ????
Southern Rock Opera gives you a taste of their vibe. Great sense of humor in their lyrics and the electric guitar Southern rock sound. Decoration Day and Dirty South are more polished and radio friendly.

The Feelies are back
I was a bond trader in New York during the 80's and saw them several times live. I have fond memories of dancing with arms akimbo to "Slipping Into Something." If you like the Feelies, you should also check out Glenn Mercer's solo disc and his oth...
