What is the most analog sounding CD player under $
I found it! In an antique shop covered with rust and gunk.  The transport had to be prodded with an ice pick to get the tray to open.  The CDs skip, distort, and the music can barely be heard underneath the cacophony of debris.  Just like vinyl!
How good is Blue Sound Node 2 in WiFi vs Ethernet connection vs external CD player?
I find myself not understanding the OP.  The Node 2 has a built in DAC.  It's ok but nothing special.  If the Node is connected to your pre amp by the analog connects that is the DAC that you will hear.  If you connect it digitally to an an extern...

What transport should I get?
I'd start with your current player.  8 years can seem like a digital eternity but it may work just fine.  Remember the DAC does reclocking, up conversion, etc.  I would look at Sony new Universal Player, which can be had for $300, plays Blu Rays, D...
Best reasonably priced interface with Bluesound Vault 2
I use an iPad.  I tried the Fire and the Android interface wasn't quite as slick but that was over a year ago and they have updated several times since then
Just wondering...
Hate to use price as the only differential, but I plunked several thousand for a new DAC (Mytek Manhatten) that even uses the same chips as my old DAC, the Oppo 105.  The comparison isn't close, as the Mytek is the single greatest upgrade my syste...
Upgrade Path - Preamp or DAC?
What is your budget?  It is always a good idea to determine that before you decide how to distribute the dollars
A CD/SACD player to beat Oppo 105D at similar price range?
I would explore the new Sony Universal Player.  Retails for 1/3 the price of the Oppo, plays every format.
Sony UHP-1 experience?
Thanks, samac
Multi format playback: DAC w/ DVD-A capability? Rip to HDD? Just get an Oppo?
Does anyone know if the NAD M51 DAC, which also has an HDMI input, can decode DVD A?  Used ones are going for about $1200
HDCD rescue - it's possible, but man...
Sounds like a project for retirement or to while away the time during a long prison sentence.  Can you even enjoy listening to the music after so much effort?

Just get an Oppo or a Marantz or the new Sony Universal player that will play DVD-A ($400).Most of your listening is vinyl why torture yourself for the view discs that you want to play? The Universal players will make them sound great. And if you fe...
Sony Hapz1es or blue sound.......
Bluesound sounds great.  I haven't heard the Sony.
WiFi System Upgrades
I find that with about every other Bluesound OS update, I have to reboot the whole system, which involve unplugging the Ethernet source from the router, unplugging my Vault 2, Node, and Pulse Mini and re starting them, occasionally more than once....
Apple TV and Sound Quality
I only have ATV 2, which sonically from what I have read here and elsewhere, is islimited compared to ATV 3.  Still, in your setup, the weak link is the wifi to ATV.  I would replace the ATV with a dedicated audio component such as the Bluesound N...
