| BEST HORN LOUDSPEAKER TO PURCHASE My 300B tube amp sounds great using the Charney Maestro X with AER BD3 drivers. Sensitivity in excess of 100db. Good bass but I do supplement with two RELs. A little less than your budget depending on wood grain, other drivers. if you are in t... | |
| Need recommendation for 300B (SET) Stereo amplifier I can’t stop loving my TUBE AUDIO LAB 300b hand built and fully customizable based on the WE-91 circuit. Just google the name. I’ve rolled tubes and have settled on the Western Electric 300b and an Emission lab rectifier tube. In the $4500-$5500 ... | |
| persistent 60 cycle hum only on tube gear If all else fails, I’d check the transformers. Some are just noisy but it is inaudible when playing. My tube gear uses all Hashimoto transfers and we needed ‘pots” to drop the hum. | |
| Please keep me out of the Rabbit Hole - Power Strips Check to see if you have any DC voltage bleeding into that dedicated line. Test when the refrigerator, tv and vacuum are running. | |
| Speaker for 300b amp? Second vote for Charney Audio. I have the Maestro II with AER-BD3 drivers and they match well with my 300b Tube Audio Lab amp. A little pricey though. I’ve rolled Sophia and Western Electric tubes and there is a difference. | |
| How Music Protects The Aging Brain The music drowns out the screaming knuckleheads, the vitriolic politicians and the kids, yes those darn kids. Of course I’ll live longer and be happier with Tina T playing at 85db. No brainer if you ask me. | |
| DeVore O/96 Unboxing Mdalton: Give the Charney Maestro X with AER BD3 drivers a try. I compared them to the AN-E’s and purchased them. My amp is a 300B 8-9 watts. | |
| My New System Good positive review/experience. Makes my day when others are as happy as I am with their systems | |
| How large (or small) is the audiophile market? I do not follow the mid tier equipment market but I do have an interest in the “high end” gear. The “tell” for me is whether the big money investors such as venture funds have moved into the market and are consolidating the small retailers. Ther... | |
| Interesting Insurance Article Concerning HiFi. Practical advise goes a long way: so first, photograph all your belongings. Record serial numbers, dates of purchase and don’t forget all those little snake oil purchases. Next up, apply your driver’s license number with an etching tool to your ... | |
| HOW can components be so expensive, and yet customer service is so bad. The VTL factory is the worse. The best so far: Decware, Brinkmann and Tube Audio Labs. Wish there was a So Cal retailer who rose to the occasion. | |
| What Meatloaf and Beer Have Taught me about Audiophiles Erik_Squires. Excellent writing skills. Seriously. Nice to read an author who sets up a subject and executes the take. ps. Here at Chez Lang’s, meatloaf is a big pleaser. | |
| Did I Expect too much? @rodge827 You are absolutely correct. The AER BD3 do have built in binding posts and I probably should have done as you suggested! Next time… | |
| Did I Expect too much? @larryi I agree with your comments 100%. Charney makes a really nice cabinet with close attention to woodworking and veneering. Brian is unbelievably good at keeping his customers up to date. I heard more from him than I do the kids expecting... | |
| Did I Expect too much? Just wanted to say thank you for all the comments-you saved me a trip to the therapist. I’ve calmed down and moved on. |
