Biwire - wiring diagram inside speaker
My feeling about the "bridge" bar is minor.  You're just adding another physical connection into the circuit.I took apart my B&W speakers which has biwire capabilities.  I wanted  to goof with the crossover because I hate the sound of them so ...
Mistakes I’ve made

Women who enjoy quality speakers
I know female audiophile exist. Met them years ago at the winter and summer CES shows.  1970's, 80's.  And while visiting audio salons on America.I wanted my girlfriend to respond but she gave me the "don't wanna" look.I know for a fact that she k...
100 W Tube Amplifier Malfunctioned
Wow.  I find this amazing.  I started working on electronics professionally since 1974.  Power Transformer failures were very rare.  Wal Warts don't count.  Guess they don't make them like they used to. Just going on "the transformer was shot".  H...
Story problem
I thought the 4 audiophiles were going to visit Miller in Redmond.Who is Mike Lavigne's?
Is 1990's equipment vintage?
I read this thread out loud and my girlfriend was near.  Her answer was "You".I replied "stereo equipment".  She gave it a thought and said "you".I don't know if this is a good thing or bad!
which speaker to buy
I would also suggest Pro Audio Gear.  Designed to "Rock and Roll" large venues.Suggest NOT Bridging.  Back in my days most pro speakers were 4ohm. Amplifiers that are bridged do not like driving 4 ohms loads.  I would guess there would be 8 ohm sp...
I'm never going to hear a megaspeaker in a good room am I?
I will never hear a great system in a great environment. Never.Nor do I want to, really!Because I will Never, Ever HAVE that great system in my little apartment environment.  There will be Excuses.  Compromises.  Deal with. Limited Dollars.  Thus ...
Can I use 24 gauge speaker cable?
My answer is YES.  You can use 24ga. wire on runs of 50+ feet. I have done so through 5 rooms of my parents house.  Pushed with a Wollensak  reel to reel  mono tape player.  Strictly soft background music.  Small oval 8ohm speakers.  Ran for years...
Baby Proof Floorstanding Speakers
I feel fortunate.  My kids were 3 and 5 when we divorced.  They never touched my stacked Quad ESL's.  Fluttermans which were on the floor next to the Quads or turntables located on a low shelf.
Downside to "revealing" system?
I relate "Reveling" systems to my experiences at symphony concerts.Balcony center vs. way back at "standing room".  Now this is only my experience at the Neil Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu. And I have never sat Balcony Center.  But 7 seats of...
I blew up my receiver. Now what?
1. What did I break?  Can't be sure without going in to troubleshoot.  But you saw smoke, A Lot.      A fuse? More than likely.     A capacitor? Probably     Everything?  No.  The cabinet, foots, panel knob and buttons are still good.2. What’s t...
Woofer pumping possibly due to tube amp when playing vinyl
From what is described here was very common long ago.  Noticed this in high school. Now to a lesser degree.  Warped Vinyl.  We had Sub Sonic or Rumble filters on our electronics to almost deal with it.  Back in the day we treated records like cd's...
It is not you, the sound really is getting worse
I rarely go to see a movie.  But last year I had a few hours to kill so I went to one.  I remember thinking to myself, At least one sound system in Kona is worst then mine.  Part of the napkin for my popcorn went into my ears.  Which just lowered ...
