New transport or repair CD player
Did you ask the repair shop "how much would you charge to replace the laser in  my cd player?"  Sometime just cleaning, lubricating and maybe a belt? would fix it. How are you in taking things apart? It doesn’t work as it is. What do you have to ...
Cartridges
How did I miss this thread? You already have a darn good turntable / audio system that you appreciate and feel the Need to purchase Quality Pressings.  I have a Symphonic All in One with no name cardboard speakers.  Secondhand store vinyl suits m...
Why do so many sellers take offense to offers on their listings?
If I see an ad and I feel the asking price is out of line, I disregard it. I have "low balled" auctions on ebay, "not tested" "not working" "sold for parts". Even if they do not state "open to offers", I send them a message. I state the possible ...
Everything matter in the audio chain. Tests prove it!
Duh. My ears have proven "Everything matter in the audio chain" since I started stereo.  Including power and environment. All those charts and graphs and my ears still has the last Hear Say,
What is the Best Sounding Stand Mount Speaker in the world?
My vote is the Rogers LS3/5a.  Sounded darn good in the 80's when I first heard them.  Sounds darn good in my system now. Many speakers' great speakers have come and gone but the LS3/5a's have stood the test of time.
Buzzing IC's
Just a thought here.  Are you following the Arrow markings of the cables?  Signal flow From-To.  On the Source, preamp side, the cable Shield and Signal Ground wires are connected together.in the rca  On the subwoofer side connector, just the Sign...
Tonearm/Cartridge pairing.
To answer your question, looks like the combination it should be okay.  Even possibly the Technics tonearm a better match for the Goldring. Second thought, cartridge setup.  Something is not adjusted right.  Overhang, azimuth, vertical tracking a...
McIntosh C52 to C53 Upgrade
I'll play the devil's advocate. Go for it.  Screw the reviews, worthiness of upgrade or sound quality.  This is why you worked so hard to earned and have the money.  Upwards and onwards. The only American way to go.  Gloooory glory halleluuujah  ...
NAD M23 Stereo Amplifier: Best Amp Ever Bench Tested?!?
Speaking for myself, it's all about what I hear.  Usually, I already know the price.  But not always.  The "specs" doesn't really matter. A manufacture that prints less than or poor specs is either brutally honest and or lacking marketing savvy.
Where did you buy your first audio gear?
First New Purchase: 70's?  Lafayette Electronics, Honolulu, HI. Criterion speakers.  Lafayette integrated amp.  Parking lot blow out sale.  New technology called Solid State.  Yup.  Someday it will take off and be the "thing" everyone has. First ...
15 ohm speakers yea or nay?
I would say Yea.  Because the only speaker that I know that has 15ohm and 83db spl ratings with the Falcon name attached is their Rogers LS 3/5a speakers.  After 40 years and many speakers have come and gone, I still love Rogers. Now that you men...
Denon DP-100 - User Manual (need to help again)
Does your unit have the Dynamic Servo Tracker arm?  I think this arm has been installed onto other Denon turntables.  Possibly those turntables using the Servo Tracker will do.  May need the service manual.  I have serviced other servo/linear trac...
Why not?
I am happy if the manufacture provides a power cord at all.  I wow at a dvd that comes with those red, white and yellow cables and batteries for the remote! However, I feel High End products should NOT come with any cables at all.  Many manufactu...
What Is Most Important?
The Performance.  I may disregard the technical aspects of a recording and media delivery for a great Performance.  But there are limits to what I will accept.
Has this happened to you? How can it be stopped?
Isn't there meetings you can attend?  A A,  Audiophile Anonymous.
