Any thoughts on Pass X150.8 ?
@smodtacticalWC has a huge following on audiogon because of his monstrous amplifier thread and all the gear he has gotten to experience. You have to admire the endeavor.Whether or not his opinion on the Pass Labs .8 steers your decision would be b...
Any thoughts on Pass X150.8 ?
@smodtactical I enjoy the 350.8 very much. I have Soundlab electrostatics, so I wanted the extra juice. The 350.8 is the only amplifier I have ever had on the Soundlab speakers.
Considering the New Tekton Design Encores? AND Owners Group - Experiences/Questions
@jcarcopo Do you think there would be any problem in sitting closer? I have been kicking back and forth trying a pair of Tektons. I generally enjoy a more nearfield experience. Specifically, I sit about 6 feet away. Curious to see if the drivers h...

@jcarcopo How far do you sit from the Encores?

Editing out of respect for the topic, and to keep it on track.
Any thoughts on Pass X150.8 ?
I would agree with DEP. The Pass Lab preamplifiers are great. Just a couple of months ago I upgraded to an XP-32 from an XP-22, and its the best preamplifier I have ever had to this point in my audiophile journey.Great tonality, resolution, dimens...
Tekton Design Moab
The recent revelations in this thread have greatly dissuaded me away from Tekton. I was googling Tekton Encores like a mad lad the past couple of days, and thinking about emailing Eric. Poor craftsmanship, lazy wiring, cheap cabinetry without prop...

I don't understand sparse dampening material. Is it really that difficult or expensive to add more internal bracing? Seems like a foolish place to cut corners.
X250.5 vs X250.8
There has been mixed comparisons between the .5 and the .8 amplifiers. Some like one versus the other depending on the speaker and system. Until last month, when I traded it in for an XP-32, I had a 22 for 18 months. It is a great preamplifier. I ...

I think you are comparing apples to oranges. One utilizes a DBA to fix the problems within the acoustic environment, not to fix the speaker. The delta between a decent sub-woofer and an excellent sub-woofer may be perceived as small because of bas...
Pass labs x250.8 stereo amp in San Diego?
I am an admitted Pass fanboy, and I have had great experience with Reno HiFi. Mark makes it really easy to audition equipment at home. He will ship you out a 250.8 and let you keep it for, I believe 10 days, to listen to it with your system.Worth...
Lumin X1 latest Review like we have been saying
Are there any plans for Lumin to incorporate digital inputs on any future products?Seems ridiculous to spend 14K on a DAC that can’t accept digital inputs. I use my system for different things other than just straight streaming music.  A high qual...
Pass X150.5 or Odyssey Stratos monos?
In my 10+ years stricken with the audiophile illness, I have learned that you should always keep an eye out towards resale value. You may keep something for 5-10 years, or you may not.I purchased many boutique products over the years that were sup...
Lumin X1 or dCS Bartok
The X1 doesn't have any digital inputs. So, if you have any other source that needs to be converted, you are SOL. For that reason alone, as great as the Lumin may sound, it is missing critical features that the DCS has.
Your favorite Electrostatic, Panel spkr
For what it’s worth, my old listening room was 11x18. I tried a multitude of dynamic speakers in that room, from line source, point source, sealed, and ported. Admittedly, I never tried dynamic OB. Every dynamic speaker I had in this well treated ...
