The Amazing World of Streaming Audio - Video Music
Audiogon members seem to care more about sound rather than music. I'm just the opposite.
Tube Preamp - What to buy?
Don’t forget a Lamm ll2 deluxe which can be had in this price range
Jazz listening: Is it about the music? Or is it about the sound?
Interesting that people for whom it really IS about the music - namely professional musicians. Rarely have very sophisticated audio systems. Even when they can afford it
Jazz listening: Is it about the music? Or is it about the sound?
It should always be about the music. If you want great sound too attend a live performance it’s a lot cheaper than a system that will give an approximation. Then again I think there are lots of people in this hobby who are more sound lovers than m...

If it’s not about the music. You don’t actually appreciate jazz. Stick to Kenny G
Pure Class A SS vs Tube Amp
You can get a class A Plinius SA 102 or 103 used (125 watts) for half of your target and have a world class amp that doesn't even need anything like 100dB efficiency. An upgrade/rebuild can be done for around 1500 and then you have a nearly new am...

Does anyone care to ask an amplifier designer a technical question? My door is open.

Why aren't new vacuum tubes as good as old ones?
Agree tomcy6. Some people prefer components that distort more (measure poorer). I was defining better as “distort less”.
Why aren't new vacuum tubes as good as old ones?
So mr_m your answer is “no, I have no data or evidence”
Why aren't new vacuum tubes as good as old ones?
Can anyone provide data or evidence for the claim that new tubes don't sound as good? Data or evidence would mean things like tube characteristic curves showing that old tubes are closer to the ideal than new or double blind hearing tests showing ...
Dealers hijacking the discussions
As many others have said, I think dealers provide a valuable service as long as there is disclosure. If they over do it, people recognize that and it probably works to their detriment.  Audiogon is a better place with responsible dealers with good...
