My NAD 3020 D proves your Class D tropes are wrong
@kren I didn't know about this product. My experience with CA is that their amps are a little too forward for my liking. I found them powerful but fatiguing. Interesting they are going to class D. I can't imagine they will do as good a job as NAD ...
My NAD 3020 D proves your Class D tropes are wrong
@decooney yes I've heard similar reports. I believe PS Audio burns in certain products before shipping as well. To be honest I'm not a huge proponent of burning in although your example would give credence to it. Not trying to get into a burn in o...
My NAD 3020 D proves your Class D tropes are wrong
@decooney I wish I could say I put a ton of time in. I may have listened here and there for less than 20 hours total in a few weeks. I did not switch speakers in or out. Here's the good news... ultimately when it came down to it (to the OP's) poin...
My NAD 3020 D proves your Class D tropes are wrong
I have auditioned an NAD c298 which uses purifi tech. I had this powering a set of martin logan 60xti. I was using my naim uniti atom as a preamp. They sounded really really good. I tried doing side by side comparisons with the naim uniti itself p...
"Amplifier Noise Floor" and hum acceptable?
Same hum with subs disconnected. Tried hum x which didn't help which I figured since the ground lift didn't either.
"Amplifier Noise Floor" and hum acceptable?
For updates1. The receptacle neutral and hot wires were not reversed. I checked.2. I switched the new Hubbell recep out for my old one (common 20 amp one). Hum was still there. 3. I bought a new and better power conditioner. Hum did not change.4. ...
Wireless option for rear surround speakers? 7.2.4
@mahler123 yes I think it would be difficult without the use of room correction programs and the ability to set speaker distances which then you could set it farther to allow for the time lag. I have never had to deal with that before. Thanks for ...
"Amplifier Noise Floor" and hum acceptable?
@ditusa thank you for that. I will have to check on what you said. The faint hiss I don't mind so much but thanks for that knowledge as well!
Wireless option for rear surround speakers? 7.2.4
@maxwave wow both of those options look like they can work! The sound hubs both have analog inputs for left and right channels. Presumably I could use the preamp outs on my AVP to plug into the sound hub through analog in. This can then transmit d...
"Amplifier Noise Floor" and hum acceptable?
@twoleftears the speakers only. Can't seem to hear it from the amp itself. The midrange driver seems most affected. The tweeter gives off a faint hiss but not noticeable unless I'm right next to it ear to tweeter.
"Amplifier Noise Floor" and hum acceptable?
The hum is there even if I try connecting the amp power cable to another receptacle so it's not the new receptacle it seems. @jasonbourne how do you know that it's internal? Is it because there is still hum even with all wires unplugged except for...
"Amplifier Noise Floor" and hum acceptable?
@yogiboy I was more excited about integrating the new amp into my system and with settings. I never noticed a hum in my system ever before. I can't say if there was hum before I changed the receptacle. I do plan to switch the receptacle back to st...
Full circle and thinking about speakers
Personally if you’re in an environment you can't play loud... if that’s a priority you may want to lead with that. You may not be looking for base extension if that's the case. But then you brought up a subwoofer so I’m not sure now. Maybe you fee...
A pleading request to manufacturers of amplifiers and preamplifiers.
So nobody is going to talk about disc herniations? Lifting 60+ lbs at floor level and trying to fit it onto a rack is just awful. Maybe the weight is to deter the customer from returning it.
Klipsch Heritage Range
@simna and @leahy I first tried a combination of the cxn v2 and Cambridge audio cxa81. Then I tried with my naim uniti atom. I eventually wound up keeping a pair of Martin kogan 6xti. Leahy I didn't burn in as you are suggesting. They were new.
