Tube virgin looking for tube amp under $3k
Decware- best in terms of sound quality, Bob Latino good choice in terms of sound per dollar .don’t overlook Transcendent Sound if you’re into kit stuff.
Acoustic treatment question: do you agree with Dennis Foley that $46k to $65k is required?
No, but I drive a 1996 Subaru

Why so many angry audiophiles?
I am reminded of the saying:”Never argue w a fool because those observing may not be able to tell the difference “just sayin’
Unbelievable 3-D imaging sound
I read Jim Smith’s “ Get better sound”, watched the DVD’s, played w tape measure ( I know, old school- should have used Lazer- didn’t have one - YET), spent a weekend listening, having kids & wife listen, found the sweet spot & was amazed....

Versatile, non-fatiguing speakers for a small room under $1500 used or new: advice needed!
My choice several years ago when faced w similar situation was Harbeth moniter 30 (before they started adding numbers to the end of the model number). I’m sure the other Harbeth recommendations would be good as well
Who are your three favorite female singers?
1+ for Jennifer Warnes, no quarrels w Linda R or Emmylou, but no love for Gillian Welch or Amber Rubarth?
Speakers which always sound good
I have loved my Yamaha NS 1000 M’s, my Harbeth 30M’s in many apartments over the years- not terribly location dependent. My Maggie 3.6’s, Klipsch K-horns-too hard to move, set up- more location-dependent, never owned them until I wasn’t gonna move ...
Wanting to get back into the hobby and want to start with the speakers.
I like Maggie’s, Klipsch, & Harbeth, so much I couldn’t decide.I love the “sounds like you’re there it’s live w Maggie 3.6’s, the “in your face!!!!” W Klipsch K-horns, & “warmth, small jazz club” w Harbeth- 30’s.Each bought used, 2 outta 3...

I have diy Volti modded Klipsch cornerhorns, took me a weekend, Volti mods cost more than the K-horns (purchased used from a gentleman in Houston, had to dissemble them & walk them down an outside spiral staircase from 2nd floor)- ‘70’s vintag...
Best Speakers for a small Nearfield room, budget at most $10000 (used is also ok)
Second the Harbeth 30’s, got mine used years ago on the ‘Gon, never looked back.
What has been your costliest mistake in this hobby?
Biggest?- easy:Had Old Wurlitzer 78 rpm jukebox, noise & static, reached in, wiggled the plug where it went in the amp to get better connection, got my finger & thumb around the speaker field coil output, most definitely got my attention. ...
Why the truth is not in them ??
Maybe I’ve just been lucky.I ‘ve interacted w sometimes met ( purchasing/ picking up gear in person) a lot of really nice folks. If it sounds/ feels fishy, I don’t bite.maybe I’ve missed out on those deals that were “too good to be true,” but can’t...
