Is the Mytek Brooklyn Bridge or Lumin D2 good buys in 2021?
ErikThe D2 is the entry level combo product from one of the long time leaders in the streaming industry who developed and continues to update their product on a regular basis so at least you have software support with a no nonsense design and buil...

Why would Roon in anyway be the answer to his question.  Do the Elac's have their own built in DAC?  IF so you don't need either one but especially not the one running off of  Mconnect as good luck with software support from Mytek.
NAD M33 Initial Thoughts
With only three days on a Class D amp of any type you've still got a very long way to go for it to break in plus it needs to be left on all the time.  If you have the standard 30 day return window you really need to have it playing whenever you ca...
Don Sachs DS2 vs Wells Audio Commander
If you have to put your ear up against a speaker to hear tube noise then you don't have a problem.  Dead silence in that situation equals SS and good SS at that.
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state?
A guideline to what Klaus thinks is an acceptable gain tube preamp would be the Candela at 14db so with speakers of "normal" sensitivity the QS would be fine.  But unfortunately you bought speakers than don't fit in that definition so you are goin...
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state?
@gochurchgo If the 10db attenuators work and don't effect the sound to your ears I wouldn't waste anymore money on attenuators.  If you haven't tried the 12AU7 tubes yet that might be a better avenue.  Also my personal opinion but if you want to c...
Vandersteen 3a Signatures compared to Treo’s
Not surprised that Klaus is not in favor of building fully balanced amps as it would double the cost but he has offered the XLR inputs on the Stratos case for over 20 years for people that want to have the option of both.  I  suspect that if you j...
Power amp recommendation for Harbeth 30.2s
@ladavid Look at the Van Alstine Vision SET 400 to pair with your Don Sach's.
Vandersteen 3a Signatures compared to Treo’s
@patrickdowns If your Audio Alchemy is not truly balanced but just a single ended design with a pair of XLR outputs, as it appears, then you are not really gaining anything by swapping to a balanced amp other than a cable change.  You also have th...
Vandersteen 3a Signatures compared to Treo’s
If you liked the sound signature of your McCormick and now Odyssey you will find the Benchmark to be completely different.  I owned three different Vandersteen models from 1998 to 2015 with the last being Treo CT's.  Went through quite a few brand...
Thinking out loud: solid state Linestage < $2k?
Wyred 4 Sound STP-SE which is on sale. Owned one for seven years and it plays and sounds great with anything. Also there is the ability to upgrade it in the future.https://wyred4sound.com/products/pre-amps/stp-seWorks with your amp as I've used it...
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state?
@gochurchgo No experience with EJ's phono stage just the preamp which I still have around and a pair of amps from about five years ago.
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state?
Worth a try if you already have a set and you may or may not hear a difference with one of the Pro Audio versions. I only had one combo where I thought there was a slight dulling of the top end but that was a different brand of amp than Odyssey. A...
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state?
@decooney And it's still true over two years later.@gochurchgo Until you can resolve in your mind what to do going forward about your gain mismatch once you get a pair of clean tubes then there are two relatively inexpensive things you can try bet...

What's your budget for new amps and do they need to be Mono's?
