Describe the "new HiFi sound"?
@kota1 I didn't say that my friends stereo's suck, it's just that Atmos sucks for music. I didn't care for anything Dolby did since there beginning.
Are audiophile products designed to initially impress then fatigue to make you upgrade?
You can still get 50 year old krell amps serviced,  and I'm sure pass labs services their older equipment. Try having a run of the mill mainstream piece of audio equipment serviced, usually doesn't happen.

@kota1 all my speakers are pointed straight, not aimed at my head and they sound way better than all my friends Atmos systems. Atmos is an unnatural effect for a lot of types of music especially unamplified music.

@johnk there are many high end audio products that last a lifetime with proper maintenance.
Stereo or monoblocks
You can probably get a better stereo amp than monoblocks at the same price. If you compare monoblocks amps to a stereo  amp of the same design and watts per channel then monoblocks will have the better performance, but at a higher price tag.
Speakers and amplifiers show audiophiles are confused.
Most of the new krell amps have fans to keep them cool.
We should reject hard-to-drive speakers more often
@ bigkidz +1   The theory doesn't always hold true.
Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
@borisj try switching the tubes to the other channel just to make sure it's the tubes and not just a connection problem. It's possible that the tubes are bad, even if they are matched, tube testers don't test the tubes at the same parameters that ...
Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
@alexberger they have that big tone and bass like the ken rads, but with more detail. Now if they can last as long as the ken rads, is yet to be determined.

@donavabdear  really comparing concert amps to home audio? Bob carver said it best , pro amps are made to play loud and not break, not to sound good. The  wall of sound is still one of the best sounding concert setups and that was how long ago?
Outlets and Wire Gauge? - Please help!
The sensitivity and impedance of the speaker has a lot to do with power draw from the amp.
Outlets and Wire Gauge? - Please help!
@perazzi28  there is a trip curve for breakers, you would be surprised at just how much current for short durations that will not make them trip.
Outlets and Wire Gauge? - Please help!
@perazzi28 just because you aren't tripping the breaker with all that equipment on one circuit doesn't mean you are getting top performance. A 20 amp circuit can handle a lot more than 20 amps for short durations of time, which is why 10awg wire w...
Outlets and Wire Gauge? - Please help!
@perazzi28 your information is wrong, you can use 10awg wire with a 20 amp breaker, the breaker is what makes it safe not the oversized wire. I have 10awg wire on 20 amp breakers with 20 amp outlets and this passed inspection.
CLASS A POWER RATINGS
@clearthinker  the krell ibias amps do not run in class B, they are class A the circuit used increases the class A bias as more class A power is needed. Krell's old sustained plateau bias was also class A, in fact if you drive those old amps hard ...
